When cars depreciate based on the "markets"

On 17 February 2024, I had requested an evaluation for my car. I had received a message on Whatsapp indicating that the estimate would be R140,000 subject to viewing. The car was viewed the next day and the estimate was changed to R135,000. Unfortunate for me at the time, I could not qualify for a loan to buy another car and had to wait abit. This tuesday 9 July 2024, I was able to get the finance sorted, I had contacted we buy cars to let them know that they could take the car, I was asked to upload the vehicle on the website which i did. I had received a message indicating that the initial offer is R135,000 subject to viewing. The car was viewed yesterday 10th July 2024. I then received a pdf file with an offer of R120,000. This cars mileage has not changed since the previous inspection, it is garage parked and hardly used, the condition remained the same as the previous inspection. This morning I had received a call from Ash wanting to know if I am interested, so I had explained to him that a few months ago the offer was R135k, the mileage and condition has not changed but the offer has now changed to R120k which means its R15,000 lesser. And this guy says to me the offer is based on the markets, as if i fell off a ****ing mango tree. The short of this story, is try to not advertise on ECR claiming to pay more than anyone else when the reality is that this is not the case. Take that advertising money and save it, then maybe you can pay fair prices when you buy cars. Creating a good advertising campaign doesn't necessarily mean you honor what you say. Also train your employees to come up with proper excuses for *****ing us over.
