WeBuyCars – Unacceptable Delays, Poor Communication & Financial Prejudice

WeBuyCars – Unacceptable Delays, Poor Communication & Financial Prejudice

I am extremely disappointed with the handling of my case by WeBuyCars.

Discussions regarding this vehicle began at the end of October 2024 due to serious mechanical issues. Throughout the entire month of November, the car was repeatedly taken to WeBuyCars’ workshops for assessment and repairs. Each diagnosis report returned with new and increasingly serious faults. The final report indicated a wiring issue, confirming that the vehicle was not in a condition fit for use.

As a result, I returned the vehicle on 1 December 2024.

Since then, communication from WeBuyCars has been extremely poor. I have received no proactive updates and have had to continuously follow up myself. Even today, I had to call simply to get feedback.

I was informed by Yvonne that they were waiting for a settlement quote from my bank. I immediately contacted my bank, obtained the settlement quote, and sent it through the same day — demonstrating my full cooperation.

However, when I followed up again, I was told by Dimakatso that I must now wait furthermore for WeBuyCars to “cancel the deal on their side.” This directly contradicts earlier communication and makes it clear that the delay is not due to the bank, but due to WeBuyCars failing to cancel the deal timeously.

This is deeply concerning because:

The vehicle has been out of my possession since 1 December

Month-end is approaching, yet I am still financially liable

I am being prejudiced for delays entirely outside of my control

The tone and manner in which I was spoken to, particularly by Dimakatso, was rude and dismissive, with the issue being framed as if it were my fault

At this point, it is evident that:

The deal should have been cancelled long ago

Claims that WeBuyCars was waiting on my bank were misleading

There has been a complete lack of urgency, transparency, and accountability

I am exhausted by the back-and-forth and the financial stress this has caused. I expect immediate escalation, clear written communication, and urgent settlement of my account.

I would strongly caution others to be aware of how returns and cancellations are handled, as delays can result in serious financial prejudice to the customer.

Thank you for the response.

For clarity, the vehicle was returned on 1 December 2024, and discussions regarding mechanical faults had already been ongoing since late October, throughout November. The settlement quote from my bank has also already been provided.

I would appreciate a clear written update with specific timelines regarding:

Cancellation of the deal on your side

Settlement of the finance account

The lack of communication to date has resulted in ongoing financial prejudice, as month-end is approaching for a vehicle no longer in my possession. I look forward to a concrete update rather than a general acknowledgment.
