Webuycars sale of written-off vehicle
I bought a 2019 Renault from webuycars (Jhb South) on 7th October 2020 (derlivery date). The car had +-4000km mileage, condition looked very new and was listed as category A per webuycars categories. The Dekra report provided on sale indicated only cosmetic work on some body panels and broken hupcap. Sales person confirmed service and warranty plans should still be under Renault during sale. Shortly, after delivery I noticed a service light and booked for service. On 13th October 2020 just be service, Renault checked the vehicle in the system and said the vehicle was written-off and all plans were terminated without providing details for confidentiality with previous owners. When I took the matter back to Webuycars, they said they want proof write-off to do anything about it and on the basis of natis document they consider the vehicle code 2, which does not erase the fact that Renault has it written-off. Even after I lodged an official complaint their final response just left me with the stress of finding the proof that Renault cannot give me, even though I bought the car Webuycars and they should be ensuring all my expectations when i bought the vehicle are met, and if not the should take responsibility to resolve the problems. Most recently we noticed the one side of the hooter is dead, and a warning light appeared on the vehicle indicating more problems and confirming that there are actually problems that were not disclosed about the vehicle during sale. Webuycars has been less than helpful in trying to resolved the matter and have left it with me since they have achieved their objective of selling a vehicle which is turning out to be very defective. Webuycars response also referred me to ombudsman but it seems like they are counting on the slowness of the process to wear me out and possibility of my acceptance of the situation due to my dilemma and urgent need of vehicle. I have been extremely failed by Webuycars as a customer and above that Webuycars has violated Consumer Protection Act by handling the matter as they did.

I am aware of your position on the matter although you never revealed detailed specifics and your interactions with other parties during your investigations and but my review is on the basis of your deficient response and the investigations you claim to have done leading to the unsatisfactory premature closure of the matter by yourselves. Your response simply hides behind lack of proof from Renault, which itself relates to the events on the vehicle that happened before our sale agreement and should have been addressed by webuycars before sale. By closing the matter you are confirming that it is the nature of Webuycars business to transfer consequences of the oversight by yourselves of not thoroughly investigating and detecting all problems with your vehicles (including possible issues registered by manufacturers such as the one I am experiencing) so that you can declare them in their entirety to your customers before selling and leaving your customers with unexpected burdens, and then absolving yourselves through such obvious technicalities. Moreover, you are also confirming the lack of responsibility to own up and resolve issues you have transferred to customers without prior agreement. The least I expected as a customer was that in such a failure to deliver per customer expectations you at least hold yourselves responsible to help resolve customer burdens created by oversights by yourselves.
