WeBuyCars Germiston - Registration Nightmare
On 17 August 2024 (more than a month ago) we purchased a new car at the WeBuyCars Germiston branch.
Initially the service was great with a very helpful salesman, but when we went to trade in our old car and collect the new one, everything started going downhill. Unfortunately, the salesman was on sick leave (or perhaps normal leave). The one in his place was really not interested or bothered about delivering a speedy service. He even let us leave without checking whether we could drive legally in the car!! We were 30 minutes away when we realised we were driving without a permit. So we had to turn back to fetch one.
The F&I Manager kept us waiting for over 2 and a half hours, just for a signature before we even left. We had our sick 2-year-old daughter with us since we actually reside in Bloem. We left at 04:00 in the morning and ended up heading back to Bloem so late that we considered sleeping at a guesthouse. My husband's birthday was on Sunday, 18 August (the next day), so it was a weekend that was soured in a serious manner.
It has been more than a month and the registration has still not been completed. We lodged a formal complaint telephonically last Saturday, since the permit had expired 6 September 2024. So we cannot drive legally anymore!!
We were promised that a new permit would be sent to our nearest PostNet in Bloemfontein (by the complaints personnel member). This did not happen.
We need to leave for Middelburg from Bloemfontein tomorrow evening (Friday, 20 September), but since the licensing is still not sorted how can that even happen since we can't travel legally?
We have requested for Abrinah (from the Germiston branch) to ensure that we have a valid permit by tomorrow before COB, otherwise we will need to report the situation to the police or traffic department.
We do not have time to take leave tomorrow to sort out licensing even if the registration is done tomorrow morning, thus a permit is the only option.
Ensure that this matter is prioritied and that we have a valid permit tomorrow morning.
Abrinah has apologised for the inconvenience (tonight via WhatsApp) and said that she would ask a sales person to do a permit and will follow up again with the finance license department. How can we rest assured that this will be the case?
Initially we really thought the service would exceed the service we received from Volkswagen in Bloem (excellent service, but a lot of hoops to jump through), but it most definitely did not.
She has apologised even though it is not her fault.
The situation is very serious, but to receive feedback 21:29 in the evening means a lot.
Hoping this will be sorted tomorrow so that we can travel!

I appreciate the reply. The matter has still nit been resolved and we are extremely unhappy. Our weekend plans have been cancelled, plans that were made months in advance.
We are concerned that something more sinister is behind the situation with the car. A detective has traced the previous two owners of the car, one has passed away and another is still alive. We are considering making contact with him.
Please confirm what is going on and why none of our complaints, emails and various communication channels have assisted in resolving this matter.
