WeBuyCars Buying Division - Highly Exploitative!!!

Due to the financial challenges faced during this pandemic, my wife and I decided to sell our 2018 Renault Clio 4 RS Trophy 220.

I went on the webuycars website and filled in the forms required to sell the vehicle. I received a call from them, gave them all information about the car and later received an sms that the estimated buying price would be R210000 subject to viewing.

I then went to we buy cars silver lakes and met Connie Nieman who evaluated my vehicle. He took my car key and asked that I give them about 45mins for them to evaluate.

About that time later he called me and asked to meet by the reception (close to the buyers office). He told me straight that they were not interested in the vehicle and that if the were to buy it, they would offer Me R100k only. Wow the car is actually worth about R290k, webuycars said they estimated to buy it for R210k and now down to R100k.

I then asked Connie Nieman what was wrong with my car. We went out to view it and he showed me minor cosmetics, most of which I could not see(I can send the pictures of the vehicle) , saying that the car won't sell.

Honestly I just thought he was talking nonsense and asked to speak to the manager. He then said the managers are not available as managers only communicate with webuycars staff and not customers - WOW. I then asked another evaluator to evaluate my vehicle as I'm 100% sure Connie didn't conduct it properly. The other buyer said there is nothing he could do.

So basically I don't feel that my car was evaluated correctly, I can't get a second evaluator as I don't trust the first evaluator, I'm not allowed to speak to the manager whatsoever.

My car has 67000km, full service history, warranty and no mechanical issues whatsoever. The vehicle even has a full inspection checklist from Renault when it was serviced for the 60000km.

Honestly if we buy cars are going to exploit sellers like this then I don't recommend people to sell their vehicles to them, rather go to another dealer or olx or something. Fairness and integrity is very important and what I experienced was honestly disappointing.

I'm not expecting webuycars to buy my car at a loss as they are in business but trying to buy a car that's worth 290k for 100k and the sms sent mentioned estimated 210k. Down by more than 50% of what was mentioned. I'm honestly disappointed!
