I bought a 2009 Suzuki Swift from We Buy Cars in November 2022 through an online auction. Before purchasing the vehicle I meticulously read through the Dekra report to make sure the car had no problems before purchasing it. The Dekra report only stated "good", "very good"and "average" which convinced me to bid for the car.

The process of paying for the vehicle and signing for it was very quick and I had organised my own transport for the vehicle as it was in Durban and I live in East London. The car arrived with virtually no petrol in the tank and only one number plate. This was not communicated to me before purchasing the vehicle and was no evident from the photographs of the car.

Since my car only had one license plate I was desperate to get it registered so I could use it without fear of being fined R1000.00 for not having a license plate. I went to do my car's roadworthy assessment for registration and was informed that the back rims were bent, I had a serious oil leak, my back break light was not working and I was missing a back wiper blade (All of which were stated to be in good condition on the dekra report). I took my car to a mechanic immediately and had to pay R3 685.03 to have the issues fixed before registration.

The next step was registration, by this point I had the car in my possession for over a month. Once I got to the front of the queue at the traffic department I was informed that We Buy Cars had not submitted the Notice of Change of Ownership documentation and therefore I could not register. After calling We Buy cars a few times the documents were eventually submitted.

I had my car registered and all was well. Then a few weeks after this my gear box selector plate stopped working which basically meant my car had no 1st or 2nd gear. This cost a further R5 491.71 to fix.

I have considered requesting that We Buy Cars pay me what I have had to spend on the car to make it derivable but it seems that similar cases have been unsuccessful. There is no justice for the **** that is We Buy Cars, I will never use their services again. Their dekra reports are clearly fabricated and amount to material misrepresentation.
