WeBuyCars – ********* and Risky Licensing Practices

I purchased a vehicle on finance from WeBuyCars Springfield, and the experience around vehicle licensing has been extremely disappointing and *********.

On the day of delivery, I was informed after taking possession of the vehicle that it did not have a valid and up-to-date license disc. I was then told that the temporary permits for the day had “run out” and was advised to continue driving the vehicle unlicensed, with the suggestion that if I was fined, I should invoice WeBuyCars. This advice is completely irresponsible and unacceptable. I refused to drive an unlicensed vehicle and insisted on compliance with the law. The following morning, after escalating the matter, the cashiers manager arranged a temporary permit valid for 21 days, expiring on 16 April 2026. I was assured that the full licensing process (license disc and plates), which was already paid for as part of the finance deal, would be completed well before the permit expired.

However, on Monday, 13 April, with only days remaining before expiry, I had to log a concern with customer care. I was later informed that the licensing documents were only submitted to the licensing office on 11 April, which is far too late considering the risk involved.

I reside in KwaZulu-Natal, where traffic enforcement(RTI) is strict. Once the temporary permit expires, the vehicle is legally unlicensed and not roadworthy, exposing me to fines, impoundment, and serious inconvenience all due to WeBuyCars’ delays.

I raised this concern specifically because I need a clear and lawful solution:

- To provide the license disc and number plates immediately

This entire situation reflects poor planning, poor communication, and a blatant disregard for customer safety and legal compliance. A customer should never be encouraged to break the law or carry the risk for a dealer’s administrative failures.

I am still awaiting a solid resolution, not promises or excuses.
