We Buy Cars Vereeniging-Shady Dealings
🚨 My Experience with We Buy Cars Vereeniging 🚨
I feel it’s important to share my recent dealings with We Buy Cars Vereeniging to warn others about what we are currently going through.
We app**** online for a 2017 Volvo XC90 that, according to their inspection report, was “above average,” well-maintained, with a clear accident and service history, and rated silver ready. No issues were flagged that would prevent it from passing roadworthy.
🔹 Timeline of Events:
Monday (1st): App**** online and received provisional approval.
Tuesday: Finance approved. Sales agent (Nyiko) confirmed the vehicle would go for roadworthy.
Wednesday: Nyiko confirmed the car was “driving perfectly” but mentioned a warning light on the SRS system (airbag sensor under the driver’s seat). He assured us it was minor and the car would be delivered on Friday.
Thursday: We signed the Offer to Purchase (OTP). Trusting their promises, we sold our current vehicle.
Friday morning: Nyiko said delivery was still on track. Later that day, he informed us that the issue was more serious (electronic control unit replacement) and needed to go to Volvo. Despite this, he downplayed the seriousness.
Friday afternoon: Suddenly, we were told the purchase price would increase by R12,000–R15,000 to cover repairs — after we had already signed the OTP. This is ******* and *********.
We reminded them that the OTP is a binding contract and that altering the purchase price afterward is ********. They even suggested reclassifying the car as a Code B (accident-damaged) vehicle after the deal was finalized, which is unacceptable.
🔹 Saturday: Out of desperation (since we had sold our car), we drove 160km to collect the Volvo. At the branch, we were told by Clarice that we could not take the vehicle because the repair quotes exceeded R30,000 and the vehicle would be changed to a Code B. We were never even offered to inspect the car ourselves. Instead, we were coldly told we could “choose another vehicle.”
We refused. We want the car we signed for, in the advertised condition, not something altered after the fact.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We truly apologise for the negative experience you’ve had, and we understand your frustration.
We are currently looking into the matter and will get back to you with an update as soon as possible.
