We Buy Cars Selling Defective Vehicles & Then Ignoring Customers – No Response at All (Case 137488)
Complaint: This is a WARNING to anyone considering buying from We Buy Cars. I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee (Reg: JYT803NW) from We Buy Cars, and within a short period the vehicle developed serious mechanical issues. A professional diagnostic confirmed that the engine had previously been skimmed — a serious and material defect that was NEVER disclosed at the time of sale. This is not a minor issue. This is a fundamental defect that directly affects the reliability and lifespan of the engine. I formally lodged a complaint and was assigned Case 137488. Since then, I have: • Submitted ALL requested documents (diagnostic report, job card, quotation) • Sent multiple emails over an extended period • Followed up consistently • Contacted the call centre, where messages were escalated again We Buy Cars has completely ignored me. No response. No acknowledgement. No update. Nothing. The assigned agent, Angelina Masango, has been completely non-responsive despite repeated follow-ups and even internal escalation via their own call centre. At this point, this is no longer “poor service” — it is deliberate avoidance and disregard for a customer with a legitimate complaint. Let’s be clear: • A defective vehicle was sold • A material defect was not disclosed • The vehicle is not fit for purpose • My rights under the Consumer Protection Act have been invoked • And We Buy Cars is choosing to ignore the issue entirely I am now left without a working vehicle and expected to carry the financial burden of a problem that existed before I even purchased the car. This is unacceptable and *********. What I expect immediately: • Urgent contact from We Buy Cars • A full update on Case 137488 • A proper resolution: refund or replacement If this is not resolved urgently, I will be escalating this matter to: • MIOSA (Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa) • National Consumer Commission (NCC) • The National Consumer Tribunal • And pursuing legal action for recovery of damages I will also continue to publicly share my experience to warn other consumers. We Buy Cars: you cannot take people’s money and then disappear when there is a problem.
