We Buy Cars refuse to repair my car

On Saturday,11 December 2025 I purchased a 1994 Mazda MX6 2.5 V6 that appeared to be in immaculate condition for a 30-year-old car. I noticed that the Radiator had been replaced, I asked Cruz (the salesman) about it, and he rep**** that the radiator had been replaced the previous day. The only other fault on the vehicle report was that the left window electronics were faulty and needed attention,

I felt very proud of the car and immediately took the vehicle for roadworthiness. Registration, numberplates, repaired the left window electrical problem and had new tires fitted.

On the January 8. 2026 I noticed grey smoke coming from the exhaust and there was a pecu**** odor I smelt in the vehicle. The temperature gage in the vehicle indicated the temperature was normal. I took the vehicle to a nearby mechanic to find out what the sudden grey smoke was about, we inspected the vehicle and noticed that the radiator was cold on the left side and extremely hot on the righthand side. the moment we opened the radiator cap, the temperature gage shot into the red, I waited approximately an hour for the engine to cool down. then filled it with 8L water. As I reversed, we noticed oil on the workshops floor. I then drove home approximately 3km away, parked the vehicle in my driveway and checked the oil level, the dipstick only had a drop of oil on it so I refilled the oil and noticed that as I'm pouring it in, it runs out the bottom of the engine in the oil filter area, I checked the oil filter and it was loose enough that I could turn it by hand. I Tightened the oil filter and refilled the engine with oil.

I drove the vehicle as little as possible and regularly checked the oil and water, On 20 January There was a distinct oil smell coming from the engine and the vehicle started jerking. I drove home parked the vehicle and attempted to contact We Buy Cars on their "Customer care" number *** 3 times with no success, the 4th attempt I had to listen to ****py music and an irritating voice that tells me how great We Buy Cars are and how happy their customers are, for 23min, then there was a ring signal and the phone died.

I eventually managed to report the matter to Customer care, after reporting it via WhatsApp and email. After reporting the matter, I received a ref number 131429 and the message said they will contact me within 24hrs. I waited the 24hrs and reported the case again ref. number 131572 with the same message and this was on a Friday. On Wednesday 21 January 2026 I received a phone call from customer care; I was instructed to take the vehicle to an RMI registered mechanic to get a quote for the repairs. I contacted a RMI registered mechanic and he wanted to charge me R1500 just to test if the gasket blew. I emailed Etnee Fillis Resolution Specialist at We Buy Cars That was assigned to my vehicle and informed her that I am not willing to pay R1500 because of We Buy Cars poor workmanship. She rep**** with a list of RMI mechanics and the closest to me was Snap Change in Eersterevier. and I must tell them that se refired me to them. I made an appointment with Snap Change and took the vehicle to them where I spoke to Arno, he confirmed with We Buy Cars that they had to work out a quotation and booked my vehicle in on 28 January 2026. On 3 February i received an email confirming that the quotation was sent to We Buy Cars from Maryke at Snap Change. On Monday 10 February I received a call from Eugene from We Buy Cars and he informed me that Etnee that is assigned to my case is on leave and that she never submitted the quotation for approval and I must email the Quotation to him. I informed him to Contact Snap Change. as I never received the quotation. On 12 February 2026 i received a WhatsApp stating that my "concern" has unfortunately been declined.

In summery We Buy Cars purchased a radiator and replaced it themselves with their own mechanic. the repairs was not done professionally and they neglected to do the repairs as it was supposed to be done. as a result of their incompetence the problem escalated to the Gasket blowing. As I stated in the beginning< the only Fault reported by We buy Cars was the electronics on the left front window. The air conditioner pump does not work as well as the Diagnostic port does not function at all. These faults were reported to We Buy Cars as well.

We Buy Cars continue .....
The day I purchased the vehicle, We Buy Cars mentioned 2 faults on the vehicle:
1. Faulty electrical window switch.
2. Oil leak.
