We Buy Cars and Faulty DEKRA report - Auction

I am writing this review to try and save others making the same mistake.

If you buy a vehicle from WBC on Auction, be very sure you are willing to take the risk and inspect the vehicle yourself THOROUGHLY and DO NOT RELY on the DEKRA report to be transparent.

I bought a vehicle on auction in January and the vehicle looked in good condition with the DEKRA report showing little issues I wasn't willing to fix myself. HOWEVER, the vehicle had mechanical problems that the DEKRA report EXPLICITLY showed wasn't a problem (i.e: ENGINE COOLENT SYSTEM: "Very Good"). On day one the vehicle had contaminants in the coolent, turned out to be an oil cooler: R10k fix. You just need to stick your finger into the coolent reservoirs and you would pick it up.

DEKRA REPORT: Coolent: Very Good Engine Noise: Very Good Oil loss engine: Very Good

ACTUAL: Coolent: Thermostat broken, Oil cooler leaking oil into coolent system, blocked coolent pipes, leaking coolent excessively. FIX = R10000-00 Engine noise: Extreme vibration: FIX = R 12000-00 Oil leak: Gearbox leaking oil: Fix = R7000-00 (Above values are estimates)

We Buy Cars are now hiding behind the terms of an auction!! They (WBC / DEKRA) did not disclose these issues, and in my OPINION, they were negligent.

Contact with MIOSA exceeded my expectations but they do warn on the following:

DO NOT FIX THE VEHICLE before MIOSA did not consult on the matter, as soon as you alter anything on the vehicle, the law says you void ANY claim from the seller. According to the CPA that is.

I will also be seeking legal advice and update any findings here (If I can).

My experience with this purchase was horrific from day one. The sales consultant in George was unavailable for phone calls and barely responded to messages. The number for his manager also goes unanswered.

My rating: 1/10

Experience at the JHB branch (transported the vehicle here) and with the call center was a lot better.

Also, if the DEKRA report is worthless with a auction, why does one need to even sign it? Why even put it on the advert?

In summary: I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING ON AUCTION from WBC, simply not worth the risk. I had hope that WBC would own up to the misrepresentation on the DEKRA, but it seems this will not happen.
