Watch out for salesman's and their ************ methods

I would like to bring buys attention to some very underhanded techniques used by the salesmen and We Buy Cars, to make sure they make a sale an not another salesman, I received an email notification of Sunday morning the 2nd of March 2020, that there was a new Hyundai H100 bakkie available. I tried to make contact with WeBuyCars via both their online page and their call center number. I wanted to know if the car was still available. I had no luck with either, and believing it was perhaps because it was Sunday and to be expected. So I made the decision to drive through on Sunday at about 12 ish. We were introduced to Molefe the salesman, and he said the vehicle was available. That is when the merry go round started. No one could find the keys to vehicle. We were very keen on the vehicle and just wanted to confirm we wanted it by going for a test drive, but NO ONE could find the keys. We did not know at the time that this is a deliberate ploy by the salesmen . Anyway, we proceed to start the paper work to put in an offer to purchase, with the only subject to clause was that we needed to take the car for a test drive. Monday morning, by 8:15 am we had sent through the necessary paper work to purchase the vehicle, and by 10:00 am we were at Midstream to test driver it. And still no one could find the keys to the vehicle. So I went to vehicle and there on the wind screen was a notice saying a HOLD had been put on the vehicle by a salesman Johan for his client Ettiene. It has apparently come via the website on Sunday afternoon. Interesting how this was possible when no one had contacted me back when tried on the website on the Sunday . A Hold implies someone else has put a deposit down on the vehicle and they now have first option on it. I was not impressed and kicked up a fuss were by I was told to leave the premises, which I did. On the way back home we phoned the finance lady, Samantha Clough to advise her that she can cancel the paper work. She was amazed at what had happened and said she would investigate and get back to us. She phoned us back shortly afterwards saying that there was no HOLD on the vehicle and that she had managed to find the keys. She said the vehicle was hence still available and we must come back to test driver it. Which we then did. However, after the test drive, we found that another HOLD had been put on the vehicle, for the same client Ettiene but this time by a salesman Jandre!! So once again we were told we had no say unless Ettiene did not want the vehicle. We have subsequently found out, via salesman and WeBuyCars that, things are very competative between the sales staff, and one technique is for salesman to hold on to keys, or make sure they "get lost" if they have a vehicle they know they can sell quickly. They then quickly put a **** hold on the windscreen, so no one else can driver it, and then they contact the second hand car dealers who they know want them. They then make sure they get the vehicle and at the same time get a kick back in the process for assisting the dealer out. Not very professional I know, but this is what you dealing with. This is how the second hand car market works, and as a "off the street" buyer you will be bul**** off the vehicle you want, at the price you want by these ************ salesmen. So next time you see a car you like and it has a HOLD on it, ask to see the proof of payment on the deposit.
