Warning: We Buy Cars Brackenfell

‎I purchased a 2014 Ford Kuga (Category A) from the Brackenfell branch of We Buy Cars on 16 January 2026, and paid in full. ‎ ‎While driving home from the dealership on the same day, a “Transmission Faulty” warning appeared. The engine warning light, temperature warning light, and transmission fault warning displayed simultaneously, with the engine light remaining permanently on thereafter. ‎ ‎I immediately contacted the salesman, Jacobus, and sent photographic proof. He advised me to take the vehicle to a mechanic recommended by We Buy Cars for a quotation. The mechanic indicated that the transmission fluid required replacement. However, no repair approval was granted by We Buy Cars. ‎ ‎At my own expense, I conducted a diagnostic test which produced the following error code: ‎ ‎P0741 – Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Stuck (possible dirty or low gearbox oil) ‎ ‎Additionally, the left front indicator and park lamp were not functioning. ‎ ‎The vehicle was then sent to a gearbox specialist workshop in Plumstead for assessment only (no repairs authorized). Upon collection, the same warning reappeared while driving home. I was then informed it was “not the gearbox” and was instructed to conduct a water pressure test at my own cost. The coolant level was low, requiring me to repeatedly purchase and top up coolant. ‎ ‎Despite consistent communication and photo evidence, I experienced ongoing delays. The salesman frequently failed to respond after indicating he would revert. The manager, Sinovuyo, was reportedly in meetings or on leave, causing further delays. ‎ ‎After I indicated that I would seek legal assistance, I was instructed to take the vehicle to a workshop in Brackenfell for further assessment. ‎ ‎I would like to acknowledge the professional and honest service received from DQ Auto & More (Mariska). Their assessment revealed: ‎ ‎Engine replacement required: R62,789 ‎ ‎Turbo replacement required: R10,530 ‎ ‎Additional costs: Engine oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, antifreeze replacement ‎ ‎Following this assessment, I again experienced delays and lack of communication from We Buy Cars. ‎ ‎I returned the vehicle on 15 February 2026 and requested a courtesy vehicle while awaiting the refund, as I require transportation to purchase another vehicle. I was informed by the salesman, sales manager and branch manager ( Francois), that We Buy Cars does not provide courtesy vehicles. ‎ ‎As of 22 February 2026, I have not received my refund ‎ ‎ ‎
