Vehicle Never Properly Checked

To whom it may concern.

Just over a month ago I purchased a 2005 Yamaha YZF R1 from your branch, and according to the forms I had signed on collection of the motorcycle all seem in order on the outside. but shortly after I very quickly discovered that the bike was never serviced or properly checked after it was purchased from the previous owner.

It all begin when I took the bike for its roadworthy test to get the certificate so I may get it registered under my name when I had to take the bike to a Motorcycle mechanic and in replacing the rear integrated brake lights we discovered after removing the body work that there was a Asthma pump under the passenger seat rear fairing. The was probably the one disturbing thing I had ever seen in a Second hand Vehicle but did not worry the mechanic to much. That was the first red flag for myself.

Fast forward 3 weeks when I took my bike to get a DYNO test done because something mechanically felt wrong at higher RPM's and the test revealed that at 8 000 RPM's the Clutch would start slipping, This caused the Mechanics to stress quite a bit as it is not a inexpensive piece to replace.

Three days after the DYNO test the bike went in to be taken apart and assessed properly at my expense as I feared We Buy Cars had not done this, The assessment revealed a lot more damage to the bike and a lot more reasoning to believe it was never checked out properly as was just put on the floor for sale. The front sprocket chain guard revealed roughly 5000 KM's if not more worth of gunk and a tube of rubber cement, a Fried clutch and clutch wall, worn down rear brake pins and a lot more.

The damage was so sever I was convinced that nothing was done with the bike, I did a little bit of research and found that according to the CPA I am entitled to 6 months warranty on the vehicle purchased and any pre-existing damages and/or mechanical problems need to be fixed by the supplier of the Vehicle.

I have all the evidence and the quote to repair the damages to the bike that I was never informed off during my consultations with the salespersons, and/or the bike was never serviced or checked for any underlining damages other than cosmetic. I am not overly happy about this and I will not be paying R 17 500 to repair something that should have been sorted out by the supplier before being put of the floor for sale.

I expect this to be sorted out with swift and clean execution as no one enjoys dragged out cases.

for all the evidence please let the relevant party get into contact with myself either via email, so this matter may be handled.

Kind regards, John.

Good morning John. My name is Henry Harber. I’m responding to your complaint as noted on Hello Peter. I would like to investigate the matter and refer back to as soon as possible. Could you please provide me with some information regarding you vehicle? Where did you buy the bike? What is the reg or stock number of the bike? Once I receive this info I will investigate the matter and provide feedback. Regards.
