Vehicle Falsely Advertised as “Fully Serviced” – Dealership Refusing to Honour Commitment

I am lodging a complaint against We Buy Cars for misleading advertising and misrepresentation in the sale of a motor vehicle.

The vehicle was advertised as having its service history complete and up to date. This was incorrect. While the mileage-based service was not yet due, an annual service due in December 2025 became due while the vehicle was still in the dealership’s possession and was not performed. Despite this, the vehicle was sold as fully serviced.

Before purchase, the Sales Consultant advised me to proceed and then obtain a quotation for the outstanding service, assuring me that the dealership’s CRM team would cover the cost due to the incorrect advertising. Relying on this assurance, I completed the purchase.

After submitting the quotation, the CRM team rejected the claim and refused to honour the commitment made prior to sale.

The outstanding service is a major cambelt service costing approximately R20,000. Had the consultant not assured me that they will settle it I would not have proceeded with the purchase.
