On Saturday, 20 July 2019 at We Buy Cars in Centurion I purchased a vehicle.The agent who assisted me, was with us when we were inspecting the vehicle on the premises. We even went for a test drive which did not even last for more than 5 minutes. When we went back to We Buy Cars premises, I asked the agent when last was the vehicle serviced. He told me that there wasn't a service history book with the car and he said that usually the previous owners throw those books away after these cars reach a certain mileage. After some more thought and a list of questions to to the agent, I finally decided to purchase the vehicle. He mentioned that I should take the vehicle for an oil service first thing after the purchase. After signing the papers and completing the deal we headed home with the vehicle. Not even 15 minutes after leaving the premises of We Buy Cars Centurion, the vehicle breaks down and we had to stop along the side of the road. There was a lot of smoke coming from the bonnet and we could see there was an oil leak. A gentlemen from road side assistance stopped and helped us to call a tow truck. I called the agent immediately, he was of no help and all he could say was I'm sorry and please send an email or Whatsapp so that he can escalate your complaint. The tow truck came and he towed the car to my house which ended up costing me an extra R1 500. When I arrived at home I got someone to come and have a look at the car because the agent who sold it to me did not give me an alternative or any resolution. They discovered there was a hole in the engine and that the car was not serviced in very long time. I was not made aware of this at all when I purchased the vehicle and if I had known I would have never bought the vehicle. Now I'm sitting with a broken car and no money to fix the car.
