Unacceptable Delays and Unfair Agreements from We Buy Cars

: I purchased a Audi A4 from We Buy Cars on 18 August 2026 for cash. Within a day of taking delivery and contacted the salesman , who responded by saying he has forwarded the complaint till the 24 (on 24 August 2026), I logged a formal concern regarding latent mechanical defects not on dekra report , most notably an illuminated EPC warning light and binding breaks

While they took the vehicle in and have now held it in their possession for a full week, their customer handling has been deeply concerning. Instead of providing a professional resolution, they have presented a restrictive Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that attempts to strip away statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). Worse still, the document deliberately leaves out any turnaround time for repairs, meaning they can hold my vehicle indefinitely while I am left without transport.

Attempts to negotiate fair, balanced amendments—such as a fixed completion timeline and a courtesy vehicle for the duration of the delay—have been met with silence or pushback. Expecting a customer to pay cash for a vehicle, have it sit in their yard for a week, and then sign an open-ended waiver is completely unacceptable.

This matter has now been escalated to the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA) for formal dispute resolution. I expect We Buy Cars to act in good faith and resolve this matter immediately.
