Trade in amount dropped before 7 days ended.

My name is Mr RN Machweu id number ***, up until yesterday the 06th May 2024 I had been a happy customer with We buy cars. I was in the process of purchasing a Land Rover Discovery 3.0 TD6 HSE with registration no ND869058. As part of the deal I would first trade in my vehicle which was a Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD 6 with registration number XRX783NW. The deal was supposed to have been finalised on Saturday, 03 May 2024, but due to delays on your side we were only able to finalise on the date of the incident, Monday 6 May 2024.

The offer that was made for my vehicle, the Toyota Fortuner, was R 490 000.00. However, when it was time to conclude the deal there were changes made to the offer and it was decreased to R 430 000.00. It was reduced by R60 000.00. I was shocked and dismayed and when I made enquiries into this huge reduction I was met w animosity from the so-called "buyer" from We buy cars and he was giving me reasons which were unsatisfactory. I then called my attorney to come and assist me as this felt like day-light ******* to me. How can I be expected to accept a whole R 60 000.00 less offer, which was not something that we initially agreed on. The buyer informed me that I had not accepetd the offer, which was confusing to me because I had already signed the papers for the purchase of the Discovery, so I did not, and still don't understand what he meant by that. I then showed the "buyer" an email from we buy cars dated 29 April stating that they are offering me R490 000.00 for my vehicle, and as far as I knew nothing had changed for them to change their offer now. We enquired as to how long the offer was valid for because their email did not specify as to how long we had to accept the offer and they failed to respond.

We were then ushered into the office of the branch manager, who was more rude than the "buyer" and told us that we can either take the new deal or cancel the contract completely because he is not willing to proceed with the R 490 000.00 offer. My attorney asked why the offer was made in the first place and she was informed that there was a system error. She asked why I, as your customer, should be punished for an error by your system, which I had not created and have no control over, the branch manager told us that we can cancel the offer and is not interested in further engaging with us. He told us to leave his office as he had another meeting to attend to. This left a bitter taste in my mouth and I was appalled by the way We buy cars treats it's customer. I am not sure whether it is your company policy to be rude to customers who are not satisfied with a highly unfair situation that they are faced with.

At the end of the day we had set our hearts on leaving with the new vehicle and I realised that we have no power over the situation and the only way to get the car that I had alreay contracted for I would have to pay the additional R60 000.00 towards the deal. I had to borrow the money and are now faced with having to return the money plus interest.

I am obviously so unhappy with this treatment as I feel that I was strong-armed into paying the additional R 60 000.00. And I also have not received a satisfactory explanation for this exhorbitant amount. I am very disappointed in finding out that this is how you treat your customers and are not even concerned about your company's reputation.

I would like an investigation into the incident and would like the dealer to stick to the original offer that we had concluded and to refund my R 60 000.00 plus interest.
