Title: Major Engine/Cooling Faults Just One Month After Purchase
Title: Major Engine/Cooling Faults Just One Month After Purchase – No Assistance Despite CPA Rights On 01 November 2025, I purchased a 2018 Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost (Stock Code: ***) from We Buy Cars Silverlakes branch for R92,500 cash. The vehicle had 192,265 km, and the Dekra Condition Report marked the cooling system (radiators/fans/coolers, coolant levels, fan, pipes/wiring) and suspension all as "As Expected" with no critical issues. I inspected and test-drove the car, and everything seemed fine at the time. However, within one month (by early December 2025) and after driving only 730 km, the car developed a severe starting problem. I lodged a complaint on 02 December 2025 (Concern 117535). Their technicians diagnosed faults requiring repairs to the cooling system, driveline suspension, and engine bottom – serious issues that suggest pre-existing (latent) defects. They offered to repair it, which acknowledges the problems, but I requested a refund due to the unprofessional manner the assigned consultant was showing towards my case. Angelina Maseko On 20 December 2025, We Buy Cars refused any assistance, hiding behind disclaimers in the Sales Agreement and Condition Report, claiming the car is sold "voetstoots" with no warranties. This ignores my rights under the Consumer Protection Act (Sections 55 and 56), which provides an imp**** warranty that used vehicles from dealers must be of good quality and free of latent defects for at least 6 months. Hidden faults like these, appearing so soon after purchase, should be covered. I have now escalated to MIOSA for independent resolution. I strongly advise potential buyers to be extremely cautious with We Buy Cars. While some may have positive experiences, many others (as seen in numerous Hello Peter and online complaints) face similar issues with hidden defects and poor after-sales support. Get an independent inspection before buying, and know your CPA rights! Rating: 1/5 Would you recommend We Buy Cars? No
