They dont want to pay 24hour vehicle holding deposit back???

Paid a holding deposit to secure a vehicle for 24 hours Subject to the sale of our bike. A deposit they mentioned was fully refundable. Now they dont want to pay the deposit back. No paper work was signed to say that it was none refunable???? R5000 refundable holding deposit is fausly adverside!!!!
