terrible ongoing experience with webuycars

Buying a vehicle from Webuycars was and continues to be a nightmare. After months of looking for a suitable Detection dog field vehicle, I put a bid on a car and drove from Kimberley to PE branch, but when I test drove the vehicle it had a creeky stiff suspension so I didn't purchase it and it took over a month to get my deposit back even after I purchased another webuycars vehicle. I saw two vehicles at webuycars in the CT region so I drove all the way to look at those vehicles. After inspection and a test drive at the Richmond Branch, I told the salesman I wanted to purchase the vehicle and inquired about the registration process. The vehicle was sold the next day to someone else. I waited around for two weeks spending considerable accomodation cost hoping for another suitable vehicle. I was interested in purchasing a vehicle from the George Branch, the Richmond Branch arranged to have the vehicle delivered. This seemed kind, I had been looking for weeks and was deperate since my parent were visiting from the US and we planned a whole holiday. I checked out of my hotel and sat at webuycars waiting with my dogs and parents. I sold them my car and got the paperwork ready. Finally it arrived several hours later than expected. They hurried it to the roadworthy as I wanted the extended warranty. Finally it came back and at closer inspection, it was a different vehicle! 2 years newer, but 50 thousand more kms and cost 60k more. I was stranded with my family, dogs, all of our luggage at webuycars. They said the other vehicle was sold and that this vehicle was my only option. Pressured because they were closing and we had booked accomodation in Franshoek, I nervously started signing the documents, but then they said I couldn't get he warranty that I clearly stated I wanted. I freaked out, in tears at this point. I was not about to buy a car that I hadn't looked at, test drove, without a warranty and paying way more than I had budgeted. They were very rude because they had stayed after hours, as if it was my fault they brough the wrong vehicle! It was after 7pm at this point, and finding dog friendly accomodation and travel was impossible. I had a friend of mine in George visit the webuycars there the next day and in fact the vehicle I wanted was still there, the price had even come down! I had already sold my car to them, so I had to take a taxi from Franshoek, buy a flight from CT to George to get the correct vehicle, then drive back to Franhoek to get my dogs and parents before driving home to Kimberley. I wish I could say that was the end of he story, but by the time I got back to Kimberley, it was evident that the vehicle had issues dispite the perfectly clean DEKRA, only 90 thousand kms on it, I paid for a new service and the roadworthy and purchased the extended mechanical warranty. The car was leaking antifreeze and making odd sounds at high speed and the alarm was going off randomly. I took it to Mahindra and there was evident corrosion causing leaks and a wiring issue. I called the dealership and told them the issues. They did finally agree to fix it, but this took 4 weeks repair due to delays from webuycars in payment. Less than 4 months later the vehicle breaks down while driving on a perfect tar road in Golden Gate National Park. I had to have it towed all the way to Bethlehem almost 2 hours away. The transfer case had internal combustion beyond repair, cost of repair was 90k! I am a phd student in conservation and had invested all of my savings on this vehicle and expected it would function for at least a year without any major issues. Luckily I had the mechanical warranty I thought. After 2 weeks, hours on hold trying to talk to someone to get the process going, they finally approved payment, but it only covered 12k, the part alone cost 78k. So I approached webuycars under the CPA, again another lengthy process but they finally offered that they could repair the vehicle or I could get a refund. I had already added my sponsor logos and outfitted the back of the vehicle for dog kennels as my work involves conservation detection dogs, plus I was losing out on field work, spending money on a rental, and knew finding another vehicle would be another expensive stressful process. Thus I opted for them to fix it. But to my surpise, instead of having it repaired at Mahindra with a new part, they towed it to a mechanic in Midrand as they got a quote for only 35k instead of 89k. The mechanic waited a week for payment and then refurbished and installed a transfer case. Afterwards, the vehicle started in 4-low and wouldn't disengage from 4x4. I worry the refurbished transfer case isn't compatible. The mechanic said he was going to take it to Mahindra to see what was wrong. Over a week later, no news, the mechanic said he was still fiddling with the wires! I had to cancle my field work, spent thousands on a rental and still wondering if I will ever get the vehicle back. Even if I do, I am worried my warranty will be void after using a nonapproved mechanic and I will get stuck with more costly repairs related to the gearbox. I told webuycars when purchasing a vehicle that I needed a reliable vehicle as I work alone, often at night in remote parts of Southern Africa. Webuycars Richmond were ****mers, and the company goes out of its way to take time with repairs and cut cost at the safety and expense of their clients. I am not sure what to do at this point, this has caused a significant finacial strain and missed completing my field work and jepardizes my grant as I wasn't able to complete the work.
