Shocking Customer Service: Two-Month Runaround

Dear HelloPeter Team,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with WeBuyCars.co.za regarding their handling of my deposit refund request. Despite numerous attempts to resolve this matter, including multiple emails and over 20 phone calls to their customer care department, I have not received a satisfactory resolution or even a proper response.

Background of the Issue On October 11, 2024, I placed a R4000 deposit to bid on a 1998 VW Chico for my nephew. During the bidding process, the amount unexpectedly increased from R19,500 to R25,000, exceeding my limit of R20,000. I attempted to withdraw from the bid by using the "revert" button, but the system was unresponsive.

I immediately reported the issue to Customer Care and explained the situation to both the sales executive and the manager. The manager assured me that the sale would be canceled and the deposit refunded to my account. Initially, the deposit was refunded, but two days later, it disappeared from my account without explanation.

Rejection After Two Months of Enquiry After two months of back-and-forth inquiries, WeBuyCars finally rejected my claim without providing a reasonable explanation. When I requested to speak to the refund administrator for clarification, I was informed that it was not possible. This leaves me stuck between the frontline staff, who have no authority to process the refund, and the refund administrator, who is unreachable. This setup appears to be a deliberate strategy to avoid accountability.

Lack of Professionalism Mike Holoway, the Sales Executive Manager, has also stopped answering my calls, further adding to my frustration. The lack of communication and transparency suggests that deposits might also serve as an additional income stream for the WeBuyCars team, given their reluctance to address legitimate refund claims.

Supporting Evidence I have copies of all email correspondence. WhatsApp conversations with the sales executive and manager. Call logs documenting the numerous attempts to follow up. Resolution Requested I kindly request the intervention of HelloPeter to assist in resolving this issue. I demand the immediate refund of my R4000 deposit and a formal explanation for the poor service I have received.

Thank you for your assistance.
