Selling cars painless, buying cars less so

We buy cars midstream. We drove a ways to view a car they had for sale. On arrival the car wouldn't start, yet they said they have sales persons who's responsibility it is to ensure their cars start each day. I enquired about the lack of a VIN number on the vehicle. They ensured me that each vehicle is stringently checked and that they have photo graphic evidence of the VIN number. They never could provide this proof and a specialist later confirmed there was no VIN number present. For all we know it could be a ****** vehicle! They also said they would license the car and pay any outstanding license fees, which they never did. The paperwork for the vehicle took several weeks to come through.

On the positive side the salesperson was friendly and helpful when we contacted him. We did purchase the car voetstoots as it was what my wife wanted. The R7k to get the car roadworthy was to be expected as the Dekra report pretty much listed the car as not roadworthy.
