**** at WE BUY CARS (is it an inside job? are you making an extra commision from the dealership?)

On the 13/12/2018, I had visited We Buy Cars, Durban Branch. I viewed a chrome blue 2006 Honda Jazz (NT 18822) as it just arrived to the venue.

I asked the assistant to allow me to view the vehicle and mentioned to him that I would like to purchase it and I will pay the entire amount, in cash(AT THAT TIME). The assistant told me that I will not be able to purchase it and that I will have to come back tomorrow because it had not been priced, he wouldn't even be able to give me an estimate. He drove inside to the showroom to take the photos for the vehicle in question. I also took photos of the vehicle. I had viewed the interior whilst it was still outside to view the mileage and it did not have any management light on and the sales assistant was able to drive the car with ease.

I wanted to be given first preference for the car and the assistant mentioned to me that I could not put a deposit on the car. On my way out, I was approached by another sales assistant who had assisted me to his fullest , he had taken my wish into consideration and had requested the car to be put on hold for me. I was very glad and satisfied with his assistance. I had messaged him thereafter to inform me as to what time the car would be priced as I want to drive and buy it.

I messaged the helpful assistant this morning to request the pricing, the gentleman had mentioned that the car is at R69 000. He said that there was also a dealer who wanted to purchase the car and that I must be there before 9am in order to buy it. I was unable to get leave from work in such short notice so I had sent my parents to view the car and buy it .

He had sent me a message with the documents required and I ensured that my parents had the relevant documentation.

On arrival, the helpful assistant had taken my parents to view the car. My parents were dissatisfied to find out that the car had a fault. It was after the assistant showed them the exterior of the car, that they had switched it on and detected a management light was on.

The assistant was baffled and did not know much about the car so my mother had mentioned to him that the management light indicates that there is a serious mechanical issue with the car.

I had been informed thereafter that my parents would not be purchasing the due to it not being able to idle and the engine light being on. AND NOT BECAUSE THEY HAD DECLINED THE BUY . WE BUY CARS SAID THAT THEY WILL FIRST DETECT THE FAULT. MY PARENTS KEPT MAKING MENTION THAT THEY ARE STILL INTERESTED BECAUSE I HAD BEEN ADAMANT THAT, THAT IS THE VEHICLE THAT I WANT. (this can be verified with their CCTV footage).

I am not a mechanic, but I am knowledgeable about my cars, I do have a HONDA JAZZ (2004) to which I am fully aware of how it should or shouldn't function. I am well aware that the car was in good working condition yesterday, when I had first viewed it (this can be verified with their CCTV footage).

What had happened between then and by the time my parents viewed it, it beyond my knowledge.

My parents, even after being unsatisfied with the metallic blue HONDA JAZZ 2006, Mentioned to the sales assistant that they would like to know the fault before anyone else viewed it (this can be verified with their CCTV footage). As we would still like to buy it, with it's fault, we just need to know what it is first.

My parents however did not receive feedback and the car was sold to the dealership. I called the assistant and he mentioned to me that the car was misfiring and the gearbox was starting to fail.

This is an expensive repair, this is a major repair, this is not a quick fix. How was the other buyer able to drive the car if my parents were not able to ? Why was I not given first preference as the assistant had said that I would get. The assistant had access to text me via Whatsapp and I HAD MESSAGED HIM ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TO NO AVAIL.

I DID NOT RECEIVE A CALL FOR ANY FEEDBACK. I HAD TO MAKE CONTACT AT ALL TIMES.

I am UNHAPPY with the ethics of the employees within this company , I request to know whether I had been victim to a **** or whether or not the car did have a mechanical fault.

IS WE BUY CARS SAVING THE LOW MILEAGE CARS FOR DEALERSHIPS OR IS THE PUBLIC ALLOWED TO PURCHASE THE CAR ?
