Retention of Number Plate

I sold my car to "we buy cars"and i had a personalised four digit ND number plate on the car.

The person who came to me told me that i would be able to sell the car immediately and retain my plate. I went the following week to retain my number plate and i am still having issues getting my number plate back.

It is time consuming because i have to take time off from work to go sit in the queue at the licensing department.

I sent emails and the salesperson claims that the dealership that the car is at the moment is closed.
