Poor Service Experience – WeBuyCars George (Western Cape)
I contacted WeBuyCars George on 24 December 2025 regarding a Ducati Multistrada 620 Dark that I was interested in purchasing. As this is an older motorcycle, I had several questions that were not answered by the online listing and required more detailed information. An initial call was received from a staff member who was unable to assist with any of my queries. I requested that someone with more product knowledge contact me. Shortly thereafter, Dalton Fourie called me. Unfortunately, he was also unable to answer my questions at the time and promised to get back to me — which never happened. On 2 January 2026, I visited the George branch in person (keeping in mind that I travelled from Port Elizabeth). After spending approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes at the branch, Dalton still had no information available. I waited while he contacted the buyer, who first sent incorrect information of another motorcycle and then had to resend the correct details, resulting in further wasted time. When I explained that I needed to leave due to being on holiday with my family, Dalton responded by saying that he “didn’t want to be at work either,” which I found highly unprofessional. Approximately 30 minutes after I left, Dalton sent me a WhatsApp message stating that the motorcycle had not been serviced and that only the tyres had been replaced — something that was already visibly obvious. I informed Dalton that I would return the following day, Saturday 3 January 2026. Upon arrival, I was told that Dalton was off duty, something that was never communicated to me. I then dealt with the Sales Manager, Dallin Blignaut. My request was simple: I wanted to purchase the motorcycle, but required a test ride. As I do not currently hold a motorcycle licence, Dallin suggested that Michael Zeiler test ride the motorcycle on my behalf and provide feedback. I agreed. The feedback was positive — the bike sounded good and appeared to be in fair condition for its age and price. After spending roughly two hours on Friday and another hour on Saturday, I informed Michael that I was ready to proceed with payment so that I could continue my holiday with my family. During the paperwork process, it was discovered that the motorcycle had apparently been reserved earlier that same morning by another individual. I questioned how this was possible, given my ongoing engagement with staff and the fact that I was physically in the store ready to pay. I was told that nothing could be done. I was understandably frustrated after investing so much time and effort. Keep in mind that Dalton never offered to reserve or asked if I am willing to reserve the motorcycle. Dallin then personally promised that if the other customer did not conclude the deal by 10:00 on Monday, 5 January 2026, the reservation would be cancelled and the motorcycle would be sold to me. As I would already be back in Port Elizabeth, he further confirmed that the motorcycle would be delivered to Port Elizabeth at no cost. On Monday, 5 January 2026 at exactly 10:00, I contacted Michael for feedback. He had no information and said he would check with Dalton. In the meantime, I contacted another source to verify the status of the motorcycle. I was shocked to learn that the motorcycle was only fully reserved with payment at 08:28 this very morning 5 January 2026, and that it had merely been placed on hold on Saturday — while I was in the store ready to buy. Further confirmation revealed that the new reservation was processed by Dallin Blignaut himself — the same person who had made the 10:00 promise to me in person. I then spoke to F.C. Tait, the Branch Manager, who confirmed that the initial reservation had lapsed that morning and that a new one was immediately placed. After multiple follow-ups and hours of waiting, I was eventually informed that the motorcycle had now been officially sold and that staff would receive “additional training.” This does absolutely nothing to resolve my situation. I was a serious, committed customer, physically present in the branch, ready to pay — yet the sale was delayed in favour of someone who would only finalise payment days later. I am now left without any assistance, resolution, or accountability from WeBuyCars George. After a disappointing experience with the Richmond branch earlier in 2025, I genuinely expected better. Unfortunately, this experience has been even worse. What kind of business model prioritises uncertain future buyers over customers standing in-store ready to purchase?

I am confident that no effective steps were taken to prevent this from happening again, either in my case or for other clients.
It remains poor service
