Poor aftersales and false information.

We Buy Cars has obviously been setting the trend for vehicle buying and selling for while now and they are very quick and efficient with making contact with any potential buyer or seller when you show interest in doing business with them.

That being said, their customer- and aftersales service lacks a whole lot.

I bid on a vehicle on an online auction and was contacted within 30min after the auction ended to conclude the deal and make payment. I am based in Pretoria and the vehicle was at a Cape Town branch which was not an issue for me because they seemed to have proper vehicle inspection reports with pictures online to tell a potential buyer of any possible faults and/or imperfections.

After accepting terms and conditions and paying a deposit, I was allowed to bid on a vehicle. After winning the auction I was told to sign the Decra inspection report and OTP as well as pay the balance for the vehicle including an admin fee which I did.

I was told I had to pay a third party x amount to have the vehicle shipped from they're CT branch to a Pretoria branch which I questioned because in the terms and conditions I had to accept before being able to partake in the auction it said a vehicle bought on the auction would be shipped to any WBC branch for between R2500 and R4000, which was part of what convinced me to buy a car from another province, but the 3rd party service provider's rates were more. I reluctantly accepted the 3rd party's cost and paid the amount just to be told the vehicle would only be shipped in 12 business days. Relativley upset, I managed to arange with the 3rd party for a possible earlier delivery providing WBC would deliver the vehicle to their depot asap. That was on the Friday, the vehicle was only delivered to the depot on Wednesday, 5 days later.

10 days later I tried to make contact with the sales person with no innitial response and the contacted the 3rd party only to be told the vehicle had already been delivered 4 days earlier. Not a single email, phone call nor WA message to let me know the vehicle had arrived...

I immediately went to WBC in Pretoria only to find the Dekra report left out some major faults - what seemed to be major paint work and RUST! The rust is on the roof and so bad that when I tapped inside on the roof lining, *****s that is supposed to anchor the roof rails flew through the air. The rust was so bad that anyone walking past it would notice it, why not a Dekra inspector?

I immediately demanded to speak to a manager about this, because I was not accepting that vehicle. The Pretoria team said they could not assist as the vehicle was not on their stocklist and gave me a number for the Cape Town manager which were on leave but finally rep**** saying he would be able to assist the following afternoon, which he did not. The following day, I was told that my details would be given to another manager who would've contactact me in this regard but I'm still waiting. Another day have passed before I made contact again, on Saturday morning, to which I finally got a reply from the manager on WA that said he noticed that the Decra report did not include the rust and he was willing to exchange the vehicle for another one. I rep**** that I needed a refund because I have now seen another vehicle in my budget that but it is not from them.

Another 4 days had passed so I contacted him again to follow up on the matter when I was told that they still need to confirm that the vehicle is in fact at the Pretoria branch.

I won the auction on 14/11/23, paid the car 15/11/23, paid the 3rd party for transport 16/11/23. The vehicle was only delivered to the 3rd party's depot on 22/11/23, was delivered to Pretoria branch (according to 3rd party contact person) 25/11/23, I found out the vehicle is in Pretoria 29/11/23 after I had to make contact with the 3rd party contact person because WBC did not answer calls. Today, 6/12/23, I haven't received as much as a WA message from any WBC rep.

Dissapointed and disgusted and would honestly never recommend WBC to anyone.

This issue has been sorted out, thank you Dylan. In summary, I won't refer anyone to WBC as they are results and not customer satisfaction driven.
