Paid for something they knew was not included and wasnt planning to include
I bought a car in PE (Branch) that was delivered in the Durban (Branch). On the invoice there was an additional expense charged of R 4 955.65 with description of Netstar Safe and Sound (I did phone my PE salesperson Leandre about the additional cost included without my consent and he indicated that this is standard for all the vehicles they sell through finance). When I signed the invoice on the day of delivery, the Manager of the Durban branch (Jaco), chuckled (Do you see the slaap chips in Afrikaans) when he looked at my invoice to a colleague of his which was an Afrikaans speaking lady that was in the room also assisting me. This bothered me and I tried to assess the invoice for errors but I could not make out what was in relation to. On 22/06/2020 (almost 6 months later from taking possession of the car) I phoned Netstar wanting to confirm this "Safe and Sound" tracker system as I was not given any documentation and Netstar cannot pick up any tracker policy regarding this specific car either using my ID or the number plate of the car. I then phoned Webuycars PE branch to request documentation for this tracker and the lady by Cristele forwarded me to Natasha, who asked me if the car was bought through finance or cash. And when I said financed ,she said öh that was a very long time ago”, but I only bought the car December 2019 (less than 6 months).
I would like to formally report that I think (but might be wrong) what the branch does is to add items on the invoice if the finance is approved which may not even exist. I am also aware that they could then now go and quickly buy this policy from Nestar (but I will be more interested on the effective date of when this cover began and I require policy documents for this). I am also aware that they could say the invoice wording should not have referred to Netstar but another service provider (but then the invoice is misleading as the customer is given perception that the car is fitted with a Netstar product.
I also believe that this may not be limited to the PE branch as the Durban branch did see this and chuckled in Afrikaans did you see the slaap-chips. If this is found to be true, I can’t imagine the number of people that have been ********** like this or who only discover this when they are desperate for their car’s recovery only to find there was no tracker installed in the first place.
Even now I haven't even received Natis documentation, this is now almost end of 6 months down the line. The car's camshaft is damaged and mechanical warranty declining to pay, not even a portion. This all happened in less than 6 months of purchasing the car (and even less if you consider that there was shut down where no travelling was allowed at all). I believe Webuycars believe they have the market in the palms of their hands in such a way that they do not care about their past customers or returning customers, they are making sales everyday anyway, who are you to think you'll tell them otherwise. (I know I'm also at fault by not requesting for such proof at the time, but I didn't think they would have been that low for such a big company- the joy of buying a car consumes one and ends up making stupid mistakes and Webuycars banks on that " literally")
