Miss selling vehicles to customers with unfair terms
I am absolutely disgusted by the level of service and ********** sales activity displayed by webuycars montague gardens.
On the 19th July 2021 i bought a vehicle from webuycars i purchased a vehicle to the value of R186k which included a dealer bodyline maintance of R3960, a dealer tyre warranty of R4540, a dealer warranty of R8900 and a dealer warranty top up of R2925. this vehicle had its 1st service date scheduled for the 28th of June 2022 where i received a quotation from Barron Claremont to the value of R27,991.00 which innovation declined however, after escalating the matter further, they finally agreed to cover the cost of the repairs however, the agent who worked at barrons never called me back until i booked the vehicle in again about 3 weeks ago.
After booking the vehicle in, i received a new quote from barrons to the value of R78000 for a reconditioning of a cylinder head and new pistons. I escalated the matter to we buy cars however, they refused to take ownership for mis selling a vehicle with a ********** decra report that clear had mechanical issues before the vehicle was sold.
Description from barrons: "Ran a diagnostic faults logged for misfire CYL1 and CYL 2. Ran compression test-low compression cylinder one and two. strip and assess engine found vavle guides worn all cylinders. found pistons oil rings worn on cylinder one and two found slight heat marks in cylinder bore.
Remedy- Reconditioning of cylinder head and new pistons.
From the above you can clearly see that the vehicle was mis sold as the decra report showed everything was clear. on the day of purchase the vehicle had 135 750km on the clock and today the vehicle has 146986km on the clock. how is it possible that so much damage can be caused with so little mileage on the vehicle.
I will be seeking legal advice and taking this matter further. I have offered them a solution to take back the vehicle and provide me with a replacement vehicle to the value of the current outstanding balance however, i was brutally declined due to the fact that "the vehicle can only be returned within 6 months of purchase". I'm not sure how this is possible if my 1st service is only after 8 months, and this has been escalated the 1st time to a guy name Lance Meyers who works for Webuycars and now the latest escalation is sitting with a lady by the name of Meghan Stephen from webuycars.
As a consumer if feel webuycars breached the consumer protection act by 68 of 2008
the consumer protection laws seek to prevent predatory lending, housing **************, securities *****, privacy violation and ********* practices.
As a consumer, i have the right to cancel the sale should because i feel I've been deceived and i have the right to cancel the sale as the obligations of the vehicle sold has not been met.
My next steps is im waiting for a call from the manager and hoping that we can resolve this matter in a civil manner. My request is simple, ensure that i am not paying 6 more years for a car that is undriveable. either replace the vehicle with one to the value of my current monthly installment with my warranty plan or pay the difference that your warranty company innovation will not cover.
I have requested a call back from the manager however, i haven't received a callback?
