Misleading Sale, Poor Service & Delayed Refund – Extremely Frustrated
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with We Buy Cars (WBC).
On 3 June 2025, I purchased a vehicle from WBC, advertised in "Platinum condition." Within a week, I noticed a bubble on the front tyre and a concerning noise when reversing. I flagged these issues with my sales consultant (Bheki Phosa), and after taking the car to DEKRA, the vehicle failed the roadworthy test due to a faulty steering rack — just two weeks after purchase.
Despite providing WBC with a valid DEKRA report and requesting cancellation, I was subjected to delaying tactics, being forced to visit a WBC-approved repairer who conveniently claimed there were no issues — contradicting DEKRA's report. It felt like a deliberate strategy to avoid liability under the Consumer Protection Act.
Eventually, after much back-and-forth, WBC approved the cancellation on 25 June 2025, and I returned the vehicle on 27 June.
However, the frustration has not ended. I’m due to collect a new vehicle today, but I’m still waiting on WBC to process the refund/settlement so that the new deal can proceed. I’ve sent multiple escalation emails to Nikita (F&I), Teague, and Etnee (Service Consultants) – all of which have been blatantly ignored. Every time I call, I’m told someone will get back to me – but no one ever does.
The entire experience has been inconveniencing, disappointing, and unprofessional, and I would strongly caution other buyers to be extremely careful when dealing with WBC.
I am now left without a car, despite doing everything by the book. WBC, please resolve this urgently.
