Gold Dekra Sticker means nothing

2022/10/29 My husband and I test drove a Renault Kwid from We Buy Cars (WBC) to buy for my son. During the test drive we heard a noise under the car when pulling away and brought it under the sales person’s (Jantjies) attention. As it was a Gold Dekra certified car, we believed everything was ok and put down a deposit on it the same morning. 2022/10/31 On the 31st of October the car went for a service on my request, and we signed and sealed the deal and received the car the same evening. Week of 7 November My son took the car back to We Buy Cars indicating there is still a noise and an engine light that came on. Jantjies told my son to log a complaint. 2022/11/14 Complaint was logged on the 14th of November – reference 31755. Unfortunately, no one from the complaints department cared to contact us. 2022/11/28 I requested the Dekra report from Jacqui Feenstra at WBC. Jantjies phoned and he was surprised that we had not been helped in the two weeks from logging the complaint. He spoke to Ruan Geere to assist us. 2022/11/29 I booked the car in at Renault for diagnostics and was provided with a quote for R13,552.50 to fix. Imagine my surprise as this car had a Gold Sticker on it. This quote included:  Engine sump damaged and leaking oil  Front crank shaft oil seal – leaking oil  Wiper  Front brake pads and disc

We brought the car back home after paying R2,100.00 for the diagnostics and contacted We Buy Cars. 2022/12/01 Logged a new call – reference 32960 but again no one phoned me. 2022/12/03 I visited We Buy Cars as the numerous phone calls I made yielded no results and took all paperwork with. I met with Wynand Pieters who said they will investigate the case. 2022/12/05 Booked car in again at Renault on recommendation of WBC to fix the problems found on 2022/11/29. 2022/12/07 Wynand Pieter from We Buy Cars arranged to tow the car from Renault to WHA Auto. 2022/12/08 Emailed WBC asking:  When the car will be picked up  How long it will take to get an answer as to what is wrong  How long it will take to fix  Why the car had a gold Dekra sticker on it when so much was wrong

Wynand from WBC rep**** and said that the car was already at the workshop at WHA Auto and they were waiting for a report on what was wrong. 2022/12/13 We received the car back. I asked Jantjies to send me the invoice WBC paid WHA for which included:  Front door handle  Lower control arms  Front brake pads  Skim front brake discs  Sump  Wheel alignment 2022/12/14 Contacted Jantjies and told him the car was leaking oil – this was the first time we saw any signs of leakage. WHA Auto contacted us and told us to bring the car back in. They found that the sump had warped and that it had to be replaced. 2022/12/15 Received the car back from WHA 2022/12/20 My son had to take the car for wheel alignment, although it was paid for by We Buy Cars and supposed to be done by WHA. This cost me R429.00 2022/12/25 The car started leaking a lot of oil, and we did not know what to do. 2022/12/27 I tried to contact WHA, but received out-of-office voicemail. I emailed WBC on the 27th if December and received no reply. 2022/12/28 Made a booking with Renault for 2022/12/29. 2022/12/29 Renault ran diagnostics on the car and found that:  After warranty parts were used by WHA  Sump not properly sealed  Gearbox leaking oil (that was never a problem before and directly caused by WHA Auto)  Crankshaft not fixed even though it was listed as a problem originally

I received a new quote for R17,734.80 and was in tears. I phoned Jantjies again and told him about this. I emailed WBC again telling them the car was in a worst condition than when it was booked in the first time. Wynand Pieters rep**** and asked for the report from Renault, which I emailed to him.

Later that day, I contacted WBC and notified them that I had to pay the full amount as deposit at Renault had to order the parts. Also told him about the above problems and that it feels like the car has had more problems than it has been on the road.

Wynand Pieters rep**** and said that I have not given WBC a fair chance to investigate and that they cannot be held liable for the costs.

I rep**** and said that I gave them 2 days to reply and that it has had continuous problems for 2 months and they clearly do not understand the levels of frustration given the history. 2023/01/04 I contact WBC and asked what will be done regarding the costs, no answer received. Received the car back from Renault the same day. 2023/01/11 To date I have not heard one word from WBC and emailed them to let them know I will be taking the case further.

The turnaround time at the complaints department and the attitude of Wynand Pieters is absolutely appalling.
