Extremely Unprofessional Service – Forced to Pay R7,000 Following We Buy Cars Instructions

I incurred towing costs of R7,000 (2 × flatbed tows at R3,500 each) after being instructed by We Buy Cars to move my Volkswagen Touareg to their preferred mechanic, Bosch AutoCare Clinic, for assessment. The vehicle broke down shortly after collection, and I acted in good faith by following their process and instructions. Despite this, We Buy Cars later rejected the matter and failed to reimburse the towing expenses which were incurred solely because of their direction. My complaint is specifically about the towing costs — not the broader vehicle dispute. The expenses were necessary, reasonable, and directly linked to We Buy Cars’ instructions. I believe it is unfair and unprofessional for a customer to be left out of pocket after complying with the company’s own investigation process. I have repeatedly requested reimbur*****t but have not received resolution. Mdu Mkhwa**** ***

further I bought a Hyundai Getz from the Port Elizabeth branch of We Buy Cars. Before collection, the salesperson confirmed that the battery was weak and promised it would be replaced before the vehicle was collected.
However, when the car arrived in Germiston, I discovered that the battery had not been replaced and the vehicle could not start. The courier could not even move the vehicle, and I had to buy another battery at my own cost just to get the car home.
To make matters worse, I also experienced issues with the gears being stiff, despite the vehicle reportedly being mechanically sound.
I lodged a complaint with We Buy Cars Customer Care in January 2026 and was promised feedback and a reference number, but months later I still have no proper response or resolution.
I am simply asking We Buy Cars to honour the promise made and resolve the battery issue fairly and professionally.

Hi
Thank you for your response.
I would like to note that these matters have been outstanding for an excessive period. The Hyundai Getz complaint was lodged in January 2026, and the Volkswagen Touareg towing cost dispute has also remained unresolved despite several follow-ups.
I have acted in good faith and comp**** with We Buy Cars' instructions throughout. I therefore request a clear update and a committed timeline for when these matters will be resolved.
Kind regards,
