Eager to sell, then total silence
Good day I bought a Fiat 500 from WBC’s George branch and paid cash for it. The arrangement was that it would be delivered on Friday, September 14 in Langebaan. Instead, the driver left the car at the Richmond branch, Cape Town, and went back to George. No attempt was made to contact me and notify me that my car will be left there. I had to start calling around late Friday afternoon to find out were the car was and subsequently collected the car myself in Richmond. I paid R2000 extra for the car to be delivered in Langebaan, not Richmond. I was also told that the registration papers of the car would be sent to me. But instead was notified at a later stage that I would now also have to pick it up from Richmond. I drove to Richmond and on my arrival was told it had already been sent to POSTNET in Langebaan. That cost me a R1000’s petrol. There are certain repairs necessary that was not pointed out to me during the virtual test drive. I sent a quote to Tobego, the sales representative at the George branch, for the following: *The window wiper on the driver’s side was missing. I already paid for the replacement, as it is raining season in the Western Cape. *The plastic cover of the spotlight on the driver’s side is missing. It subsequently came to my attention (not included in the original quote): *When I took the car for the roadworthy test, it was pointed out to me that the back brakes need shoes. It was not mentioned on the original road worthy test sheet which came with the car. *The car is pushing oil, apparently because the oil is dirty. *The dashboard on the passenger side airbag compartment is busy rapturing which is a death sentence. If that bag pops while I am driving and it caused me to have an accident, I could quite possibly lose my life. I didn’t include a quote for the airbag rapturing, because there is no place or anybody in Langebaan that specialises in this kind of work. As I said, I sent the quote for some (not all) of the repairs to Tebogo via WhatsApp. When I heard nothing and followed it up, Tebogo told me via WhatsApp to send it again. I did as he asked and, after several attempts from my side to get hom to respond, he left a message that his manager, Jeandre, will call me back. It is now three weeks later and I’m still waiting for the call. This car was classed to be an A grade as well as a gold grade, which means this car is meant to be one of your better options. And all we have received is problems. This car also offers us a once off big service, as promised in your adverti*****t of the car. Nobody has contacted us, or followed up to say how it works and how to go forward to access this service. I had on more than one occasion lost my temper and may have used vile language, for which I'm sorry. Please understand my frustration: WBC was very eager to sell the car to me, but since then there has been a total lack of communication from your side. I hope we can settle the matter amicably. This is certainly not a good adverti*****t for WBC. Regards Nicholas Gerber
