Dishonesty after spending a lot of money
On 11 January 2024 I bought a vehicle from WeBuyCars at the Silver Lakes branch. I had the vehicle for no more than a week when it stopped functioning as it should and I had to take it to a dealer for repairs. The vehicle was there for approximately a month. That visit cost me R13 000. I was informed when collecting the vehicle that the high pressure fuel pump was failing. I received a quote for R32 000 for this to be fixed.
I had also already spent R5000 on new brakes, not counting the R5000 that still has to be spent because one of the rear brake discs is cracked.
This adds up to a total of R60 000 in repairs on a vehicle that I bought for R100 000. Also no mention of these issues on the various inspections done by WeBuyCars.
Today customer service let me know that WeBuyCars will not repair the vehicle at their cost.
I have barely been able to use this car for a week since I purchased it. It would seem that the only viable option from here is to deal with the Ombudsman on this issue.
