They called me for an interview for a Buyer of vehicles. I have over 20 years experience and I was told in the interview that I have too much experience. I was asked if I smoke and instead of lying about it, said yes. They said that they dont want customers smelling smoke on me. They said that they would rather employ someone with no experience which basically means someone with no eye for previously accident damaged vehicles, will buy such a vehicle and nothing will be disclosed to buyers. 80 Percent of the Buyers at we buy cars smoke without Management knowing about it and I have also sold a vehicle to we buy cars. The buyer had a cigarette with me. We are all just people and its not about smoking, its about experience and knowledge of the trade you are in. I was perfect for this job, well dressed and well spoken and on time for my interview. I feel that I was discriminated against and treated like a school leaver.

We feel that discussing your interview on a public platform is not fair to you, and therefore will not be providing reasons for not appointing you, however, we can assure you that the reasons provided in your complaint, is in fact not the case. We interviewed a lot of candidates, and in the end, decided to go with someone else.
Please also note that We Buy Cars, like any other company, reserves the right to decide which employees we hire.
