Beware of WE BUY CARS

The public should be warned about this crowd as they are nothing more than ******* artists.

On the 25 July 2018 I purchased a 2007 Lexus IS 250 Auto from them for a purchase price of R99000. As I result of a family crisis decided to sell the car and promptly went back to WE BUY CARS at their Midstream branch in Centurion. The car which is in the same condition as it was bought in was evaluated by their buyer Ivan Verhoog , who came back to me with an offer of R55000. when I questioned this I was told that We Buy Cars does not go by the book value and never pays the same, which means that the offer is done on a thumb suck basis and not according to the actual value of the car. Ivan did make a call to Management who suddenly went up in their offer by R5000 to R60000. According to the book value of the car the trade value is R69500 and Retail R81000, if one was to take an average value (which is common practice) by adding the trade and retail values together and dividing the same by 2 would give a market value R75250. As can be seen they were R14500 below the trade value on their 1st off and R9500 below value on their second value. I was consequently phoned by Ivan and asked to bring the car back for a second evaluation but told that the offer would almost be guaranteed not to change, so a total waste of time. In law there is a principal called Snatching at a Barging , where an offer of a ridiculous nature is made in order to obtain the article at a ridiculous price while knowing its true value. In my opinion people who have had the same experience should consult their attorneys on this principal with the view to making a claim against this company.

The public should therefor be warned that unless you are desperate for cash and willing to take any price for your car, go elsewhere.
