Balance due
Kindly note I have purchased a car from we buy cars Silver Lakes in March 2024 and my application was approved by Standard Bank.First week of May the car had a break down and I called them, then they came and towed the car the following week. As I kept on making follow ups and them providing me with feedback that the engine of the car is faulty, they need to replace it with a second hand engine, but the issue was if they replace the second engine should they be any damages to the car they won’t be responsible.
I then asked them what’s the use for me to pay for something that is a second hand meaning should anything happen I will be the banking for a car that is damaged. They then said they will provide me with feedback.I remember telling them that they need to refund me my 3 months instalment money as I didn’t have the car for those months due to them having delays to fix the car as they were declining the quotes send from the workshop that had the car. Their Senior Agent by the name of Amanda Fourie was the one I kept on communicating with every time I needed feedback. She then came back that since well I don’t want a second hand engine they are writing off the car,pay off the bank then I will have to choose a replacement car which the below was the email received from her.
Good Morning Palesa
I trust all is well.
As per our conversation yesterday I just received feedback from the team.
Cancellation approved and the deposit will be refunded or you can use it towards the replacement vehicle.
Due to the mileage travelled on the vehicle based on the attached AA rates there is a usage fee amount payable of R11,720.94.
The team has advised that they can subtract this amount from your instalment refund request as confirmation has been given that the vehicle was at JVR from May until now. Meaning they will refund May, June and July instalments.
Please advise if the above is in order and if we may proceed with the cancellation in order for you to look for a replacement?
Thank you.
Good Day Amanda,
Thank you for your feedback.
As per your below email please can we move the money for the deposit to the next replacement car as my deposit.
The mileage part it’s fine you can subtract from my instalments that were done and the remaining can also be transferred to the deposit.
Regards, Palesa
Good afternoon Valencia
I am well and trust that you are too.
My apologies for missing your call.
The sales executive advised me that he app**** for finance and it declined and I informed him that as per finance no application should be made for the replacement until this deal is cancelled and off from your name as the bank still has this vehicle registered under your finance.
You can decide to pay the usage fee amount and send us the POP then we will load the instalments and deposit onto your replacement the choice is yours.
Let me know how you would like to proceed with the replacement and usage so that I can inform finance.
Kind regards Amanda Fourie
We are had an agreement that they will pay me off the 3 months instalments. They can back and said they only will pay for two which still it didn’t make sense why two as I needed the process to be done I didn’t argue with them anymore.
The remaining balance was supposed to go until the replacement car. When I collected the car I was ready to pay off the difference from the money they owed me, which the current deposit requested was R20k when I transferred the difference they said I need to pay the deposit in full because they don’t know anything about the money that needed to be transferred from the previous car.
Paid the remaining amount from the deposit. The following day. I explained to Amanda what happened the below are her responses.
Good Morning Valencia
I am well and trust that you are too.
R2 995.80 had to be put onto your replacement vehicle and this instruction was given to Amber the F&I. Please advise if she informed you of this and pls also send me the invoice you signed when you took delivery of the new vehicle.
Kind regards
Hi Amanda,
Kindly note as we were preparing for the car she did inform me of the remaining amount that was left on my account a R20K deposit was required, Friday when I went to collect the car. I first paid R18k and told them that the outstanding amount they will take from the money they owe me to make it R20k and I was advised that they don't know anything about that amount so I had to pay the R2000 that was outstanding, hence why I sent you an email. The attached is the POP for the deposit paid. I believe the amount of R2995.80 that is left can be sent back to my account
Good afternoon Valencia
Thank you for the below.
I will address this with the F&I manager as well as they were given clear instructions to add this to your replacement.
Please also forward me proof of banking not older than 3 months.
Kind regards

I have taken this to the team and they are still reviewing the concern as the F&I did not follow the instructions given.
I will follow up again and revert back to you.
