Bad service and no response from WeBuyCars

I viewed and test drove a 2012 Jeep Cherokee 2.8 CRD Limited Auto at the WE Buy Cars branch in Nelspruit on the 6th of August 2022. Being happy with the vehicle I completed all the needed finance application documents on that same day. On the 8th of August I was contacted by Sandra van Heerden from the finance department at that dealership, informing me that the application was approved. I arranged for insurance then drove back to Nelspruit to sign all the relevant documentation and to take delivery of the vehicle. Once that was done, I received the keys and proceeded to drive out form the dealership. Before reaching the 1st intersection that is not even 1 km away, the vehicle went into limp mode, and had no power. I immediately turned around and returned to the dealership. The sales consultant who assisted me, Christopher du Preez, advised me that I need to leave the car there for them to investigate the issue. So I returned back to Ermelo with my old vehicle again. I then have not heard from the sales consultant of the dealership until the 16th of August to advise me that the ECU of the vehicle has failed. He advised me to log a complaint on the We Buy Cars website, to have the vehicle repaired or they will give me the option to select another vehicle. I went ahead and logged the complaint that same day.

I was then contacted by head office of We Buy Cars on the 17th of August and given the option to have the vehicle repaired or to select another vehicle. I then could not find another vehicle within the same price range that was to my preference and so then the gave me the option to cancel the finance completely. From the 18th of August I had no feedback from We Buy Cars again. I then attempted to follow up with the sales consultant in Nelspruit, Christopher du Preez, who eventually also stopped responding.

I then contacted the customer care services department of We Buy Cars on the 5th of September, and a lady called Kimberly assisted me telephonically and advised that she can see the process has been submitted for the cancelation of finance and she will phone me back as soon as there is any progress. Needless to say I never heard from Kimberly and had to keep phoning her back and enquiring and was faced with the same answer each and every time, that she will follow up and let me know.

I am now at the stage where this has been going on for more than a month and a half, the 1st instalment of the vehicle is almost due, I never had the vehicle in my possession other than the short drive out of the dealership, insurance instalment also went off and I still do not have a vehicle, cant apply for new finance as this is still not being resolved and I’m busy opening a case against We Buy Cars at the Motor Industry Ombudsman Of South-Africa.

The finance was finally cancelled on 26 September 2022

But to my surprise when i went to the licensing department on 31 october 2022 to renew my VW Polo's license i was unable to because the Jeep was still showing on my name

Contacted WeBuyCars customer support and only on the 4th of November i received a phone call back saying that everything has been sent through and they will follow-up on process

Regardless today is the 21st and also the final day to renew my Polo's license and still no response from WeBuyCars even when phoning customer care.
