AVOID WBC! -- Car did not pass roadworthy as advertised (R15k bill), and WBC stopped communicating

DON'T BUY FROM WEBUYCARS!!!

May 2023: Three and a half months ago I bought a 2019 car with 80k kms, that is still under warranty. Everything looked great! It had a golden sticker (cf.: https://www.webuycars.co.za/dekra) and "would fly through roadworthy" according to the sales person.

But the car didn't pass roadworthy. According to DEKRA, where I took the car for the roadworthy, they had previously already seen and marked deficiencies that would make the car not pass roadworthy - but this was NOT visible in the DEKRA report I received with the car. The car salesperson said the car would fly through roadworthy.

Also, the voucher I got to take the car through roadworthy for free had already been used (by WBC no less). I haven't gotten that reimbursed yet, either.

Repair costs are almost R15k to get it to pass roadworthy. WeBuyCars is dragging their feet in the meantime. THEY PROMISE THE SKY, BUT NOTHING EVER BECOMES REALITY.

During the few times I spoke to the customer care agent, I was told that they will fix the issues (admission of guild) - but this just never seems to materialise. They first tried to get lower quotes for the repair work, and when that didn't work, they stopped communicating and calling back altogether.

I have been called back about 3 times, and received 3 emails over the last 3 months. I emailed 3x as much (and never get a reply), and lost lots of airtime in trying to get the right person on the phone, who is never available and doesn't call back anymore. This is not just pathetic, but outrageous.

It also turns out that the warranty was no longer with the original car dealer, but with a third party; and that this warranty was not put in my name - nor was I notified that this needed to be done.

I think I will have to return the car, because I cannot get a license disc. Besides a license disc, the car is due for a service (important also for the warranty), but I won't pay for a service if I cannot get the license disc sorted. If WBC drags this out until after the next service is due (October 2023), that will be it.

I am altogether thoroughly disappointed and will strongly recommend people not to have dealings with WBC. WBC promises the sky in order to sell the car, and then isn't available to fix the promises they made during the sale ("car will pass roadworthy").

The lack of communication and after sales support is thoroughly BAD, too!

P.S.: If WBC reads this, please feel free to sort this out soonest, and in a (for me) satisfactory way. I will then add that to this review.

I haven't heard from WBC yet, despite the above message.

I see a couple of similar reviews from the last few days. Not a good sign.

Anybody reading this: Stay clear of We Buy Cars - that's all I can say! When you have a problem with the car, they are "not available" to sort it out and you sit with the hassle of contacting lawyers.

Update: Still no contact from WBC. It's almost 2 weeks since their reply here. Not a good experience altogether!
