APPALLING SERVICE FROM MIDSTREAM WEBURCARS ON REFUND AFTER SELLING ME A FAULTY VEHICLE
In May 2022 I bought a Volvo XC90 from WeBuyCars Midstream. On 27 October 2022 the vehicle broke down & we had to tow it to Volvo for repairs. Volvo found that the exhaust had been modified, the catalytic converter was removed, welded back & the sensor was moved to a different location in the exhaust. This caused cylinder 3 on the engine to misfire. The quotation for a new exhaust system amounted to R62000 and would potentially increase to an estimated R160000 for the repairs on the engine.
The warranty wouldn’t pay for the repairs since the vehicle was tempered with prior to purchase. Why sell us a warranty with a booster package for a vehicle that the warranty wouldn’t cover? Furthermore how does the vehicle pass Dekra & Roadworthy when it had this modification?
We logged a complaint online on 31 October 2022. We physically went to WeBuyCars to report it on 01 November 2022 & ever since then WeBuyCars has been dragging their feet. We’ve been texting, emailing, calling but with very little response. The Volvo was our only vehicle. We have to travel to work daily & we have two kids that needed to be taken to school & back hence we had to rent a vehicle at our own cost (+R6000). Due to the lack of communication, we always had to drive to Centurion from Boksburg to get answers or stuff done. I asked Ruan Geere the Customer Agent we were dealing with to alert me when the Volvo was collected from Volvo Boksburg so I could cancel the insurance before the debit date but he never did only to find out that the vehicle was collected without me being notified. The insurance debited my account for a vehicle that’s not even in my possession. That’s R1150 down the drain. I was also debited the instalment for the vehicle.
I’m appalled with the service I’ve received and lack of communication. We have been hugely inconvenienced by something WeBuyCars failed to pick up.
