Post sale barriers

I would like to bring the below to your attention, even if you resolve to not fulfil the employees promise, I would still like to raise awareness to ensure that other women who walk into your dealership are not deceived the way I have been.

I walked into your showroom in Sep 2023 to purchase a new vehicle. I was assisted by a salesman named Chris Pillay.

He talked me through the Tiguan-R and I was happy with the model I saw on the floor (which had a sunroof) and keyless feature. Chris did some estimates and told me the estimated repayment.

We agreed on the Tiguan R - Black Edition with a Sunroof, my finance was quickly approved and at no point at this stage was I informed that the black edition doesn't come with a sunroof and doesn’t have a keyless start. How was my finance application pushed through without me being informed of the model & features etc.

I was then called to collect the vehicle on 29 Sep 2023 and saw that the vehicle had no sunroof and no keyless start, when I asked the salesman, he said the black edition doesn't come with a sunroof. I was fine using a key, but I specifically wanted a sunroof.

I almost refused acceptance before he promised me that he would assist to cover the roof of my vehicle in black which would give the illusion of the sunroof. Since he works for VW I took his word for it that the black edition doesn't come with a sunroof and proceeded with the collection.

He informed me that he will cover this wrapping from his own costs and will let me know when. It is now almost 6 months since collection of the vehicle and still no sign of this promise being fulfilled.

I have followed up with this salesman for months and he kept telling me and my partner he will let me know when he can do it. I followed up with the dealership and now I find out that he is no longer under the employ of VW. He deceived me in making the purchase, advising me incorrectly which I only realised when walking into your dealership in January and saw there is a black edition on your floor with a sunroof. This has now resulted in me paying for an edition of the Tiguan that I didn't even walk into VW to get.

As a first-time new vehicle buyer, I didn't know better than the person VW employed to act on their behalf.

When I raised the complaint with VW Centurion, I was told by a manager that he will resolve the matter for me, it has been over a week later and I still have not received an email, call or whatsapp. This clearly proves your post sale barriers. I didn’t even get a courtesy call from the sales manager to ask if I was happy with the deal and the salesman.
