Dealer disappointment

Thought it best to contact the dealer when a warning light appeared on my vehicle’s dashboard, explaining to them what seems to be the problem and requesting diagnostics test, in order to pinpoint the problem. I, however, had to book in the vehicle for an entire day for this procedure, so while it was there, also requested them to replace front right daytime running bulb. I was called during the day and informed of what they thought the problem might be and shortly after this, received quote to have it resolved. When I collected my vehicle that afternoon, however, the invoice indicated that no faults were found – I really founds this very strange, as surely a diagnostic test is supposed to pinpoint any fault. So, when I queried this and asked for the diagnostic report, I was greeted for silence, only after the 4th time of asking, was it provided out of the blue, identifying the problem picked up by the test. This full test only lasted 7 minutes and cost a staggering R2 990, yet my vehicle had to be there for the entire day and a report was not initially provided when collecting. The bulb was apparently also out of stock, so could not be replaced. Subsequent to this, I tool the vehicle too two different service providers, who conducted the diagnostic test in my presence, immediately pinpointing the fault code and how it should be resolved – best of all, this only took about 2 minutes and was totally free!!! The one even replaced the bulb, also free of charge, where in the past I was billed for this be the dealer and also had to book the vehicle in for this. So, lesson learned, if you are looking for proper and affordable service, bypass the dealer.

They could not even bother to respond to this, but expected us much! They collected their money for doing nothing, so assume they had a great festive season.
