Voxed over

On 21 November 2022 I accepted a contract with Vox to supply internet fibre for my business. On 28 November 2022 (5 business days later),while the service was still in the ordering phase (Lead time 4 to 6 weeks), I wrote to the project manager to ask that the project be placed on hold as it has come to my attention that there will be radical changes in my industry and I need to ensure the sustainability of my business, before going forward with this contract. I was told that they can't place it on hold, but will have to cancel the order. On 19 December 2022 I received an invoice for more than twice the proposed monthly installment as a cancellation fee! Since then, I have been trying to get a refund of at least some of the 'cancellation fee'. Considering that the change in my industry did indeed happen that resulted in us being unable to issue any invoices for any services rendered for the first 3 weeks in January, I do expect some kind of understanding. Will I consider taking them up on their offer again? NEVER! Because of that cancellation fee, I will most certainly make sure that none of my friends or clients ever get the same treatment.

Six months later I am yet to have this matter resolved. As I mentioned, I don't expect a full refund, but considering that I asked for it to be put on hold and not cancelled, and no installation took place a week after I signed the contract, I do expect some kind of refund.
