VOX - easy to take your money - Impossible to cancel

Vox has been efficient in the past when securing their services. However, in trying to cancel their services, which in my case is not a contract, but prepaid home internet data, they seem to have every mechanism in place to make this nearly impossible. On their internet interface, the first date to cancel is set at Jan 2020. On phoning their call centre, I was then told I need to speak to their "cancellations department" and is currently holding for 14min40sec and counting. This kind of behaviour is surely no longer tolerated in terms of consumer protection ? Why can all their mechanisms be efficient and their cancellations services be exceptionally tedious? This is simply so as it is so by design. So if any vox customer was uncertain if they wanted to cancel and try and do so, they will be more than certain that they never want to deal with them again as they are clearly ********* and money centric. Time lapsed holding is 17min20 sec now. Yet their normal call centre answered in 40 seconds. So what option does this leave, give up on holding, and settle for paying another wasted month of services that would not be used as that is the only option on the internet ???? that is ***** and ***** by design. 19min and I am hanging up now.
