Vox "attempts" to collect modem

Back in July/August, I called Vox to inform them that I was moving to an apartment I purchased on 01 October. They set to end the contract on 30 September and said someone will come collect the modem, they even put in the new address for collection.

Getting the new line/contract was a nightmare. There was an active line (even tho the previous occupants didn't use the fibre line) and some "ghost" kept reactivating the line when they tried to release the line. Who gets authority to activate the line if I legally own the property? Not to mention that Vox already started billing me days before my line could even be used which was only the evening of 17 October.

Seriously regretting using Vox again, but I let it go since my fibre line was working.

Now, 24 November, I get the statement and there is a R1999 invoice for modem not returned. I called Vox on 25 November to enquire because no one has called to collect the modem. I was told there was an attempt to collect on 30 September and 12 November. But they would escalate it and collect again.

I check my call logs, no calls from Vox on 30 September. Why would they even collect it on that day when I paid fully for September?

In the whole mess-up from 01 October to 17 October of the new line, I have it in email where I told Vox that I still have the modem, when will they collect. No respond to that.

On 13 November, I got a call from Vox asking what type of installation Vumatel did. They did not ask about the modem, and honestly, at this point, I've forgotten about it.

From 17 October (after giving up on the premature billing) to 13 November call about Vumatel, there were no calls or emails from Vox asking to collect the modem.

I called Vox on 25 November and followed up a few times during the week. I sent screen shots of my call logs and attached the email where I told Vox I still have the modem. I get a response Friday, 29 November at 16:31 saying Vox attempted to collect and they will only reverse the charge when they receive the modem. and I must now come drop it off at the warehouse.

No one called me during the week or emailed to attempt to collect it.

In my fit of anger, i drove to the warehouse early Saturday morning... and it was closed. No indication of working hours in the email or on google. Guard tells me working hours is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. So Vox now also expects me to take leave from work seeing as this also my working hours? With how they are operating, I can't trust that they will be honest about receiving the modem if I use a courier to send it back.

If Vox can call and get through to me on 13 November to ask about Vumatel, then clearly they have the correct number and have no problems getting through. So I don't understand how they can state they "attempted" to collect, then charge me, then say they will try to collect again then now I must deliver it back. And I've seen other reviews similar to mine, so clearly something is wrong on Vox side of "attempted" collections.

Dear Vox

Your services are extremely frustrating!

I got a call after my initial review, arranging collection. I even got a ticket no. I requested to work from home on 05 December 2024, during our busy period. And NO ONE CAME.

I called the next day, and was told they will arrange another pick up. No one called or arranged anything.

The debit order has already gone through by this time. Happy holidays family, Vox thinks money grows on trees and we that we can afford to be down by R1999 this holiday.

To get this ordeal over and done with, I drive (again) to the warehouse, and surprisingly find nice ladies who are sympathetic and eager to help. Clearly, your customer line people and accounts ladies need training.

Now comes the question, how long does it take to refund me? Before Easter perhaps?
