Outdoor camera not warranteed for water damage

I have written several reviews about the Guardian eye outdoor camera I purchased from Vox Telecoms in September 2016. Previously the company came to the party with all the defects experienced with camera. In April the camera stopped working, again. Initially we started with all the steps taken previously as lessons learned but without success. I drove from Jozy to Pta to see if the technicians could get it working again - with no luck. and being sent from pillar to post. At long last Vox Telecoms collected the camera from me to investigate. Almost four weeks passed and then I got the call to say that the outdoor camera had water damage and that water damage is not covered under the warranty.

Now I don't understand how an outdoor camera is manufactured in such a way that it could cause water damage and then you exclude it from your warranty.

Be aware - the outdoor camera is not for outdoor use. Find a reliable product from somebody who has confidence in their product and cover it properly. Also make sure you deal with a company who could actually support the product they sell to you at least for the warranty period.

Good day Johan,

As per the feedback we have received our Senior Product Manager has been in contact with you. It has been confirmed that the damages is with the power connector and not the camera itself. The supplier will replace the camera under warranty. The quote and supplier report has been sent to you.

Regards,

Vox

I was informed today that the water damage on the power connector would NOT be covered under the warranty. What I do not understand is that you say in your reply that the supplier will replace the camera under warranty, however you say the quote was forwarded to me. This is senseless because I was told that the camera may be an outdoor camera but the connector must be under cover. A cable only 30cm long must be under cover while the camera need not be. Ridiculous! The connector cable was exposed though right at the camera as would be expected from an outdoor camera but the power connector itself was not exposed to the elements and was properly sealed off.

I am replacing the camera as it is a vital part of my security plan, however I would rather procure a product which could withstand outdoor conditions, such water/rain
