No contract yet charging client

I am being charged for an email address that I have no knowledge of. They have handed the account over for collection and I have asked for the signed original contract for about 4 months now and they have still not been able to supply it to me yet I keep getting calls from their collection agency. How can they charge me for something where they do not have a contact for?
