Helping themselves to my cash
I recently noticed that Vox Telecom was taking R50 a month from my account via debit order. As we all know, if the amount is below a certain amount you don't get a notification. anyway I contacted their agents via email. I was told they took over a email address from ABSA in 2008 and all ABSA staff were notified. Of course there is no notification as the said email address was cancelled in 2006. Heavens knows where they "notified". So while this email was not being used (11 years) as it was cancelled, they thought O well lets just take some money every month... The "agent / customer service provider" I was unlucky to deal with, gave me this **** story and said I must notify them that I wish to cancel. Guess what a wonderful surprise it was to see VOX TELECOM appear on my bank statement again. I know I will never see a refund of any kind but I had to let the rest of the country know about the terrible "service" I am getting from a provider I never ever signed up with.
Good day Mark.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Kindly note that we are currently investigating the matter and will be in contact with you soon.
Kind Regards,
Vox Telecom

Good afternoon Mr Adams,
Our Accounts Department Manager has been in contact with you regarding your complaint.
Kindly note that Vox Telecom bought the services from ABSA in 2008 and your account was handed over to Vox by ABSA as an active account at the time. We have confirmed with you that the mail box was active however we would not be able to confirm if you have made use of the mailbox during the time that the services was rendered to you.
ABSA offered the service as a value added service to all their internet banking customers.
Please note that ABSA did send out a notification to all of the customers on the active base handed over to Vox Telecom at the time to notify them of the change in service. We have confirmed that the email address has been cancelled and a refund is currently in process for the debit order collected in August.
Unfortunately we will not be able to process any further credits on the account for the services rendered by Vox Telecom unless you can perhaps forward us any communication of a previous cancellation submitted to Vox Telecom.
Kind Regards,
Vox Telecom
