You definitely do NOT get what you paid for with Volkswagen

I am not one to easily complain as I understand that people make mistakes and that sometimes some things slip the radar. However I am extremely disgusted at VW at the moment. For 2 years now I have been sending my car to TAVCOR in Port Elizabeth for services and every time I complained about a winding sound in my engin during idle and a scratching sound when it reached over 3500 revs. On every occasion it seemed as though the problem was sorted out with me having to keep replacing parts including my water pump, without the problem ever really being resolved and me leaving with the noise still in tact. I then moved to Cape Town and about 2 weeks ago where got my 90 000km service done in Somerset West at Phil West. I once again complained about the same problem, and got told that it is my after factory fitted air conditioner that is broken and I have to get it fixed or removed. However when I drove to George over the weekend, on the way back I hear a different sound (almost like a piece of rope hitting my car after getting stuck somewhere). I proceeded to pull to the side of the road to investigate. It turns out that a piece of my fan belt had broken off. I had to drive another 27kms with this almost non-existant fan belt to Riviersonderend where I had to get an emergency Mechanic to replace my fan belt. To my complete surprise, the noise was gone when I drove off. No winding sound, no scratching sound when my car reached over 3500revs, nothing. And all the while it was my fan belt. Now I ask you VW, how could you, after 4 services of me informing you of this problem not have realised it was my fan belt. Or worse yet not even check the condition of it as it was clearly not in very good condition. Is this not a normal part of the service to check these things? The belt could have snapped while driving and what would have happened then? I have never missed a service and I always take my car in to a VW dealership with the idea that they would know best, because who better than the people who actually manufacture the car? Well aparently not! It is disgusting to me to know how much money I have spent on potentially unnecessary replacements when all that was wrong was the fan belt that was old. How can you claim to be the best when you are not even mediocre? It is honestly a shame! You put your clients and their safety last and rather want to benefit your own pockets by selling more parts that don't really need fixing. I will never again have my car serviced at a VW because you definitely do not get what you pay for. It is horrible customer service!!!!
