Worst service ever and going back on a deal!!! Volkswagen Big NO NO

Buying your first car should be a very pleasant experience.

I recently purchased my first car last year December at a NTT Volkswagen dealership in Heidelberg Gauteng. It wasn’t a brand new car but second-hand I must admit. But then again being a very huge Volkswagen fan I couldn’t wait to get my very first Volkswagen car.

So I went to the dealership to see what they had at their second-hand branch. With great excitement I drove a few cars that day, which included a Polo and a Tiguan. There was so much to choose from with so many possibilities. With this in mind I also saw a 2013 Golf 7 standing on the floor which I really admired. I didn’t test drive the Golf on that day because with such a huge variety of cars to choose from I had a lot of thinking to do before I made my decision. Anyway long story short I returned to the dealer the next day having made my decision with my heart set on the Golf I saw the previous day I just had to find out what the car drives like and man can I just say what a machine. Handles great, it’s quiet and the build quality was just amazing also has great fuel economy which was a very good plus point for me. So having come back from the test drive I decide to take the car. The only thing that bothered me was that the car had aftermarket rims on which didn’t impress me much. So I decided to make the salesman an offer because at the time I was trading my old car in on the one I was buying. The deal I made him was that I would take R5000 less for my car on trade in if they would replace the aftermarket rim with new original Volkswagen rims which the car had come out with. Me being a purist wanted to keep the car as original as much as possible seeing as thou Volkswagen spend millions a lot of money designing the car to the best of their ability. The salesman agreed to the deal as being a salesman just wanting to make another deal.

I was over the moon with my new car that I just bought. So they prepped the car for me putting it through its paces. This being that I bought the car in 10/12/2016. They told me it would be a while for them to get hold of the rims. So I emailed the salesman asking when I would be able to receive the new rims for my car also adding the rim specs and sending him photos of the rims I wanted, because the car had its original spare rim which was a proper mag. The salesman rep**** with that I would be able to get the rims early in January 2017, as I was leaving for holiday in December this wasn’t a problem for me.

So January came and I was very keen on finding out when I could receive my new rims. So I emailed the salesman again just following up on the progress of the rims. He said that they are waiting for the rims place to open which would be around 09/01/2017. It sounded very strange to me at first that they had to wait for a rims retailer to open - this being Volkswagen I thought that they would’ve already placed a order for the rims by the year before already but not thinking I left it there for now. So the 9th came around and again I phoned the salesman asking when are they going to come fetch the car to replace the rims. He came up with yet another excuse that they are waiting for the go ahead from the main guy at the dealership. Anyway this continued for a whole month of me literally phoning and emailing the salesman at this dealership every single day asking when I would receive my new rims. But unbeknownst to me they were just going to replace the aftermarket rims that were on the car with different aftermarket rims. When I eventually found out about this I had a huge fight trying to get the rims out of them which they had promised me on the deal that I made with this sales man. After a long fight over phone and email they eventually came to collect the car to change the rims. put on the aftermarket rims anyway which I did not agree to.

So now I’m driving around with the rims which I didn’t want in the first place, because of this useless salesman which I had to fight with for over a month - just to end up with something I didn’t want and him going back on our deal we made. I can’t even begin to describe how utterly bad the service was of this dealership and also how far they are willing to go just to save a bit of money and take their customers along for the ride. If at all I would never ever want to go back to this dealership to do any business with them whatsoever. I also heard from other friends that their service is of the utmost worst that they have ever had and refuse to take their cars there for maintenance regarding their vehicles. I would advise anyone to stay away from this dealership, I would almost go as far as to say to stay away from Volkswagen themselves if this is the kind of service they provide to their customers.

I mean this is one of their flagship cars that I purchased and seeing how far they would go just to ******* their customers I don’t think I would ever be able to buy another car from the with peace of mind that they won’t rip me off the way they had done previously.
I really hope this complaint reaches someone at their head office so they can sort this problem out cause after this I don’t think I want to deal with another Volkswagen dealer very shortly without wanting to knock his damn teeth is in.
